Comments about Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar with Gibson Hardshell Case:

This is the best sounding guitar I have. Excellent sustain and crunch, better than the SG standard. Very balanced, resonant sound. Sound a little on the dark side due to the pickups. At first I didn't like the 50s rounded neck but I got somewhat used to it. The maple top does help give it more crunch and sustain than the faded series. The guitar is a nice, light weight due to chambered body. Purists will tell you not to get a chambered guitar because it affects the sound negatively but I disagree. I think you get a nice thick sound with this guitar and it's a comfortable weight. My only criticism is the lack of contrast on the black model. The all black is very boring, serious, goth-looking. I replaced the black pickguard and toggle switch and pickup holders with cream ones. I also replaced the black knobs with gold knobs and it looks much better. this is a quality guitar IMO. I prefer it to some of the more expensive gibson les paul models.

Comments about Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar with Gibson Hardshell Case:

If some one puts a "Seymour Duncan Hot Rodded Humbucker" pickup at this guitar, will be a great instrument, professional for shows, and great for play in studios.

      • Nice Case

      Best Uses

      • Great all-around guitar

Comments about Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar with Gibson Hardshell Case:

I looked at all the Les Paul models and chose a wine red studio with gold hardware. It's a beutiful instrument and plays great. From a pure function stand point, the difference between this, the standard, and custom are minimal. You're adding slightly better hardware, pickups, and more bling as you go up the line. You're getting 80-90% of the performance and playability for a fraction of the price. I just couldn't justify paying the difference. If money's not an issue, by all means get a more up-scale model.

Comments about Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar with Gibson Hardshell Case:

I wanted to do some mods to split the coils on the pickups. It was supposed to have 490r and 498t pickups with 4 wire cable, but had single wire instead. The volume and tone pots are mounted to a circuit board. Only way to mod this guitar is to replace all the electronics, including pickups. Overall, the guitar has a good feel and is lighter than the Epiphone counter part. Not bad if you are happy with the limited tone from stock. Middle position on the 3-way switch has very little to no change compared to Rythem. Seems that Gibson has gone cheap on this one, but not on the price tag.
