Comments about Gibson J-45 Standard Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Its alright. people who praise gibson praise it and nothing else, but a martin will absolutely knock this down. don't believe the hype. i went to a sam ash to try it out and the employees were absolutely harsh. they complained in the inside and they didn't want to even let me hold the guitar. i ordered it online and played it here home and to be honest, its alright. its overpriced, yes, but you mainly for the brand.

when i went to try it out at my local sam ash, they wouldn't even give me a pick for a starter so i basically just ordered it to see what it would be like.
i own a couple of acoustics. a yamaha FGX-04-ltd and a martin 000-15m and they both blow this one out of the water. especially since the martin is less than half the price and the yamaha is only 300 bucks.

now, the guitar has a great action to it. it felt incredibly smooth and it played beautifully. the highs are good and so are the low ends but the mids were a bit scrawny. it plays at a small volume, considering its a smaller sized guitar. but for fingerpicking, this isn't your weapon. for just normal chord strumming without a capo, this is great. using a capo on this guitar is not as great as i'd expect but its nice.

i did return the instrument and instead just bought a martin d-28 marquis.
