The Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 is a 2x4 USB audio interface featuring two of Focusrite's award-winning mic preamps, 24-bit/96kHz resolution, instrument inputs, precision DA/AD converters and a tough, yet beautiful aluminum housing.

The Scarlett 2i4 is solid enough to take on the road when you travel, but it's so much more than just a pretty metal box.

On the front panel, XLR/TRS 1/4" combination jacks from Neutrik are provided for microphone, line and instrument inputs, ideal for recording a stage piano or synth, or just flick the switch to match the signal from an electric guitar.

Professional Grade Sound
The digital converters capture your performance with professional standard 24-bit resolution at sample rates of up to 96kHz. Hooking it all up is as easy as connecting it to your  Mac or PC via USB (USB cable supplied) and hitting "Record." Since the 2i4 is USB Bus-powered, you don't need a power supply.

The halos around the gain knobs serve as meters as well, making it possible for you to precisely set your levels safely with unique gain halos that are green when the level is right and turn red if the signal's too loud. The direct monitor switch allows you to instantly hear exactly what you’re recording with no latency.

Connect your headphones and speakers and use the large volume dial to set the perfect level with Scarlett's exceptional dynamic range of over 105dB. Built tough and designed to be compact, it travels in your backpacks and withstands the bumps of the road.

Also included on the 2i4 are standard MIDI I/O connectors to operate keyboards and send MIDI-based function messages to software and instruments.

Software to get started, software to finish
Included with the Scarlett 2i4 is Ableton Live Lite software and Focusrite’s Scarlett plug-in suite, which is compatible with all major DAWs. The plug-in suite gives you Reverb, Compression, Gate and EQ to mix your music professionally, whether you use Garage Band, Pro Tools, Digital Performer, Cubase, Logic or the included Ableton Live Lite, all within minutes of opening the box.

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 USB Audio Interface:

If you're just starting to get into home recording, this is a great first place to start. I'm not the least bit technology savvy, but I had absolutely no trouble with the installation or the mechanics of this interface. Very straight-forward design, and the preamps in it sound great--I was very surprised at how natural and clear my bass sounded when I listened to my first recording.

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 USB Audio Interface:

Besides being one of the best home studio interfaces and having the best mic pres in its price range, the 2i4 also excells at playing clicktracks. I can run protools on my laptop with just this little interface. I can run the backing tracks with extra vocals, strings, and anything else to the board, while running a stereo version directly to our inears with the click track included. Most other interfaces in this size/price range only have 2 outputs.

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 USB Audio Interface:

The Scarlett 2i4 is a great interface with great preamps and a sleek design. I purchased the 2i2 at the time when I first started and I wish I spent the extra money to get this one. The midi inputs along with the RCA outs help make it a more versatile unit. I would recommend anyone starting out with recording to spend the extra money and get this!

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 USB Audio Interface:

Focusrite has always made solid interfaces and the mic pres are the best. They sound crystal clear. You can 2 instruments, 2 mics,or one of each at the same time, you can have headphone outs with its own adjustable gain, four outs, midi in and out and it's all USB powered which gives any musician instant portability. The aluminum casing is not only super cool looking, but it also protect the unit from dings and bangs. So toss it in a go bag and worry not about it working when you get to where you're going. Definitely worth every penny.

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 USB Audio Interface:

The Focusrite Scarlett series features some of the best recording interfaces on the market. Their high-quality A/D conversion, powerful preamps, and portability make them easily the best value a recording musician can find.

The 2i4 stands out because of its auxiliary headphone out, which makes it ideal for any DJ or electronic musician looking for a new live solution. You can listen to your cue mix or click track without sending it to the main outs - which is a feature commonly reserved for much more expensive interfaces.

Bottom line - this is one of the most versatile, best-sounding interfaces you can buy.

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 USB Audio Interface:

This interface is awesome. 2 inputs, 4 sets out and.... midi in and out! This little guy packs a power house of functions and features. Aside from that, it also offers great sound quality that will outshine most of its kind. The preamps are very clean and and you even get a headphone out with its own independent gain. On top of all that, this thing is built like a tank, you can take it anywhere being that its usb powered without worrying about breaking it in your back pack. This is great value at a super price.

If you have the 2i2 and it's just not cutting it anymore, you should upgrade here. The peamps are of amazing quality. It has the same number of XLR inputs but it also has midi ins/outs and RCA outputs. You can now hook it up to so much more. The versatility of it being USB powered makes this easy to take along to mobile recordings. The frame is rugged and will protect the unit. And just like it's little cousin, the LED lights around the gain knobs are great to see if your levels are spiking.
