Focusrite Forte is a professional 2 in, 4 out portable USB audio interface for Mac and Windows, designed to deliver analogue sources to your DAW at the highest possible quality.

It features two remote-controlled mic pre-amps with the unrivaled sound quality you would expect from Focusrite. Forte partners these with superb digital conversion at up to 24-bit/192kHz resolution. Built into a solid aluminum case, Forte features a color OLED display, touch controls and a single large control knob for intuitive operation, with DAW integration transforming it into a control interface.

The ultimate USB audio interface for Mac and PC
Forte has been designed specifically to provide a compact, rugged and effective input path to your computer with the maximum possible audio quality for mic, line and instrument sources. In particular, Forte delivers class-leading dynamic range and noise floor – both highly significant in today’s world of an almost unlimited number of tracks making up a mix – and class-leading conversion performance, ensuring you get the very best quality sound at all times.

Ultra-high quality A-D and D-A conversion at up to 24-bit/192kHz resolution
Precision conversion ensures that the entire path from analogue input to your recording system – and back again – is of the highest quality. Focusrite has built its reputation on the quality of its input stages, but its converter designs are equally class leaders: the result is superb end-to-end quality and performance.

Built-in outputs / breakout cable delivers inputs
TRS line and independent headphone outputs are mounted on the body, so you don’t need the breakout cable for playback. Keep your XLR mic and TRS balanced line/instrument sources permanently connected to the included locking breakout cable, and select between them in software, without having to re-patch.

The DAW control interface
Forte includes a color OLED (Organic LED) display to indicate mic, line in, line out and headphone levels, gain structure and other functionality. It features a single, large, smoothly-rotating control knob operated in conjunction with a series of touch-sensitive icons to access preamplifier and output functions – input, monitor, headphone, and control – plus the ability to control DAW functions and act as a remote control for your music software. Included with the unit is Forte Control software application, which allows the configuration of low-latency monitoring, mic pre level adjustment and other features.

A USB audio interface at the forefront of design
Particular attention has been paid to ergonomic design. A breakout cable with locking connector is used for microphone (XLR) and line/instrument (TRS) inputs, but balanced line and independent headphone outputs are provided on the unit itself, so the breakout cable is not required for playback-only applications. In addition, the fact that the mic and line-level inputs on the breakout cable are separate means that you can keep your inputs connected all the time without having to re-patch when you go from one to the other. Forte can run on bus power in "USB low-power mode" but an included power supply increases the available volume to headphones/line outputs and delivers +48V phantom power to your microphone.

The Midnight plug-in suite
The classic Focusrite Midnight plugin suite is also included in the box, accurately modeling the classic ISA110 EQ and ISA130 compressor from the original Focusrite Forté console. Control and configuration software included. Included software allows configuration of low-latency monitoring, mic pre gain and other audio settings. Supports leading DAW systems.

Includes Red 2 & Red 3 Plug-in Suite w/64-bit AAX, AU & VST compatibility
These are the first Focusrite plug-ins to include AAX support, making them compatible with Pro Tools 10 and above.   The Red 2 & Red 3 plug-ins are accurate models of Focusrite’s classic Red 2 EQ and Red 3 Compressor hardware. Coveted by producers and engineers for their exceptional clarity and versatility, the original units are prized fixtures in professional recording studios the world over.

Now, the Red 2 & Red 3 Plug-in Suite (AAX/AU/VST) lets you exploit the famous natural sound of the originals, conveniently from within your audio software.

The plug-ins faithfully reproduce the sonic qualities of the hardware. The Red 2 equalizer is a sweet sounding 6-band design, with high/low pass filters, high/low frequency shelves, as well as fully parametric low-mid and high-mid frequency bands. The Red 3 hardware is a VCA compressor design, excellent for natural sounding dynamic control of drums, bass, vocals, and acoustic instruments.

Comments about Focusrite Forte USB Audio Interface:

I use this interface for anything audio related I do on my computer. All of my recording is done using the convenient breakout cable with XLR and 1/4" connectors and I get the highest quality recordings I have ever had with a mobile recording setup. I also use it as my main audio card for my computer and listen to all of my music and movies through it to get the best sound all of the time.
