The Fender American Special Stratocaster gives players an opportunity to own a high-quality, U.S.-made Strat that sounds, looks and feels great—all at a price that won't break the bank!

For most guitars, you just don't see the words "affordable" and "U.S.-made" in the same sentence very often. But Fender has changed all of that with the American Special Stratocaster. They call the American Special Series "guitars for the times," and they mean it. The American Special Stratocaster really does have everything you're looking for—including a price tag that's within your reach. It's a real American-made Strat, all the way. With all that classic Strat vibe, bumped into the 21st century with all kinds of smart modern touches.

Now players at all levels can enjoy an American-made Fender-quality Strat at a truly amazing value. The American Special Stratocaster blends time-tested Strat design with contemporary features that are sure to satisfy today's modern player. The comfortably contoured body of the American Special Stratocaster is crafted from alder and features a shimmering gloss urethane finish and a bolt-on neck construction. Contemporary playability and exceptional fretting-hand comfort are provided by the satin-finished Modern "C" maple neck and the modern 9.5"-radius fingerboard with jumbo frets. The large '70s-style headstock adds some old-school Fender appeal to this modern classic.

Whether you play blues, country, rock, and everything in between, a trio of single-coil Texas Special pickups are sure to deliver. Especially great for big SRV-style Texas-blues tone, the Texas Special pickups are over-wound and dish out dynamically scorching output. Featuring alnico 5 magnets, enamel-coated magnet wire, and staggered pole pieces, these pickups serve up tight lows, shimmering highs, and a well-focused midrange with incredible balance from E to e. The control layout consists of a flexible 5-way pickup selector switch, two Tone controls, and a Master Volume control. For modern versatility, the Greasebucket tone circuit allows you to roll off on the highs without adding bass.

The Fender American Special Stratocaster comes equipped with all-chrome hardware, which includes a set of Fender Standard Cast/Sealed tuners along with a 6-saddle vintage-style synchronized tremolo for classic style and tone. Includes a gig bag.

Comments about Fender American Special Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

It's hard to believe that this Strat is American Made for the great price point. It feels incredible and really is for any guitar player. It's tone is top notch and the neck feels just right. Plus as an added bonus it had my favorite Fender headstock, and comes in really awesome colors! Don't sleep on this beauty.

Comments about Fender American Special Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

This is a strat lover's strat. I love the fat 70's style headstock and the 60's feel. I did think it was confusing to have a Special and an American Special. Now they've changed American Standard to American Special, and the American Deluxe is now the American Elite. If you want a workhorse, no frills, American strat, this is it.

Comments about Fender American Special Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

This is an amazing instrument! I love everything about this guitar. The neck is smooth and thin and very easy to play. I personally prefer the pickups in this model as opposed to the American pro models, more midrange and more punch. If you don't care for a hard case too much, save yourself some cash and get this guitar. Sweet color too!

Any real Fender player would love this Strat, very reminiscent of the great guitars of the 70's. Amazing quality as to be expected from Fender especially at this price range, not to mention they are made in America. The Texas Special pickups are also definitely capable of delivering a very very tone rich sound without compromise. All around, a great electric guitar for connoisseurs of all levels !

Great 60's to 70's vibe on these. The grease bucket tone circuit and the Alnico 5's give a great sound to an AMERICAN MADE Fender right around the $1k mark. That is hard to beat! C shaped neck makes it feel like a real guitar as well

American Build and cool late 60's early 70's vibe

Comments about Fender American Special Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

The American Special line is a terrific value. You get a guitar built in Corona, CA but on a much better budget than the other American made instruments. Yet you still get a lot of really great features. For starters this is a great strat for those that dig a lot of the vintage examples from the late 60's and early 70's but with a few modern twists. You get the large headstock, maple neck with maple or rosewood fingerboard, it's easy to play thanks to a Modern C shape neck with 9.5" fingerboard radius, a set of Fenders texas special strat pickups, 5 way selector, normal strat wiring except the greasebucket tone circuit allows you to roll off volume without compromising your highs, and of course the classic 6 saddle synchronized tremolo. Fender didn't forget about the fact that this guitar was born to be played and not sit around the house by throwing in a free gig bag to keep it protected for gigs and taking around town. I loved the sonic blue finish with rosewood fingerboard. Fit and finish were great I'd probably just throw on a bone nut and install 11's my preferred gauge of strings (which is typical setup work for me and a lot of new and used guitars I buy). The Texas Specials dish out a great thick strat tone perfect for blues-rock but this guitar can still handle a wide range of musical styles just sweeping through the pickup positions and depending upon the amp's settings. If you're looking for a strat with vintage vibe, american build quality, great tone, and modern playability and refinement but don't want to go broke check out these fantastic Fender American Specials.

Comments about Fender American Special Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Finish was imppecable when I received it. Action was great out of the box but may have a pro setup done anyway to be sure I got the best setup. Love the Jumbo Frets. I compared it to my other strat and telecaster (both Medium Jumbo). and while only slightly wider at the nut it's more comfortable for playing any chords near the nut end without getting muffled notes from your fingers muting the adjacent string when playing chords. Also strings bend easily on this neck and make for fast playing.
I got the Candy Apple Red as I've alrady have a sunburst tele and wanted something to contrast. Played it through my fender hot rod deluxe and can get that Dire Straights "sultans of swing" tone easily. Jumbo Frets may not be for everyones liking but I love the feel of it for me.
The larger 70's headstock helps with the sustain and the satin urethane neck makes the fingers fly over the frets.
