Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster Plus Top Electric Guitar:
So I need to start out by saying that the Fender Strat' has never been my favorite guitar when it comes to appearences. They are ubiquitous and...a bit unsightly with the long horn. The rounder, more curvy LP style looks better to my eyes.
But we don't really buy instruments for their looks because it's all about tone. And there are reasons why the Strat seems to be everywhere. They have tone!
I have a MIM fat strat with a rosewood fingerboard and I like it, but it definitely wasn't my favorite guitar.
A good deal came along from Sam Ash on Memorial Day and so I decided to add this standard Strat with a maple finger board into the stable.
Wow! Great choice! I'm now a Fender Strat convert! This maple fingerboard sounds and plays so much smoother than the rosewood that is just blows me away!
My wife was less than thrilled about "another guitar" purchase until she heard it. She came downstairs and said, "That is without a doubt the nicest sounding guitar you own". I agree completely!
The maple cap is a nice addition and gives this guitar a little extra in the looks department. I suppose it is also possible that it could be adding something to the tone as well, but I don't have any other Strat's with maple fret-boards, so I can't say for sure.
If I had to pick a single word to describe the sound of this guitar it would be a hard choice between, "syrupy", "honey" or "silky" in the 4-5 positions. And positions 1& 3 have enough voice to get their point across with some overdrive and higher gain settings on the amp. And speaking of amps (which are equally or more important than the guitar) I'm playing through a Fender Super Champ XD.
This is a great guitar! I'm 100% happy with the purchase of it.
