Whether you're looking to record acoustic instruments, vocals, an electric guitar or ambient textures, with the UR22 you can easily capture any audio source.

Highlighting two industry-acclaimed D-PRE microphone preamps, class-leading 24-bit/192 kHz converters and a rock- solid metal housing, the UR22 audio and MIDI interface provides pure sound wherever you are. With a dedicated high- impedance switch, a separate headphones jack and phantom power supply, this portable 2-in/2-out device is the perfect choice for mobile musicians, touring DJs and everyone in between.

The microphone preamp is one of the key factors in recording — and that’s why the UR22 interface is equipped with two stellar-sounding D-PREs. These preamps are the culmination of years of development by the experts at Yamaha. The result is a truly transparent and beautifully detailed sound that is unrivaled in this class.

Just as important as the preamps are, of course, the converters. The UR22 includes first-rate A/D and D/A converters that provide supreme sonic fidelity. And where others come to a halt, the UR22 begins to shine. With a maximum sampling rate of 192 kHz and a resolution of 24 bits, you are more than ready to deliver future-proof music productions.

On the Road Again
Wherever you are, the UR22 is addicted to touring. It’s small enough to be rushed from gig to gig and rugged enough to withstand all the rigors of the road. Built to the most exacting standards by Yamaha’s experienced engineers, the UR22’s full metal chassis is reassuringly solid. You're free to hit it with your drumstick, throw it into the tour bus or simply open a beer with it — thanks to its impressive manufacturing quality the tour-tested UR22 is always ready to roll.

And regardless of its size, the UR22 exhibits all the core features of its bigger brothers, the UR824 and the UR28M, allowing you to realize rock-solid recordings without restrictions. Simply connect it via USB to your computer and start making music without any additional power supply — and always in class-leading sound quality.

Great things come in small packages
The UR22 features all the connections needed for pro-sounding recordings. Its two Neutrik analog XLR/TRS combo inputs with Peak LEDs and switchable +48V phantom power enable you to connect even the most valuable condenser microphones, whereas the Hi-Z switch on input 2 allows for direct recording of electric guitar or bass without the need to use an additional DI box.

Best of all, the UR22 offers latency-free hardware monitoring — what you play is what you immediately hear. The Mix knob allows you to seamlessly blend between the direct signal of your instrument and the output signal of your host. And thanks to the independent headphones and main output controls you can adjust the monitor and phones level individually. The MIDI I/O allows you to connect your keyboard or any other MIDI-compatible control device, such as pad controllers, footswitches and sound modules. Two TRS outputs, ultra-stable drivers and a USB 2.0 connection complement the feature set of this professional yet affordable device.

Includes Cubase AI
The UR22 is compatible with all major audio editing, mastering and music production software supporting the ASIO, Core Audio or WDM standard.

Plus, the UR22 comes bundled with Cubase AI, a lean version of Steinberg’s popular DAW. Based on the same core technologies as Steinberg’s highly acclaimed Cubase DAW, the AI version offers a comprehensive feature set for composing, recording, editing and mixing. Run it together with the UR22 audio interface and you get a one-stop solution for recording music in studio quality.

Cubase users will benefit from additional features, such as auto-setup functionality, which enables the complete I/O setup to be handled directly from within Cubase. Once your UR22 interface has been installed, Cubase detects the device and automatically embeds it into Cubase's production environment — it couldn't be easier.

  • 24-bit/192 kHz USB 2.0 audio interface

Comments about Steinberg UR22 USB Audio Interface:

I have been building my composing/recording suite. First starting out with DAWs and now have gotten the latest Cubase. I was really impressed with Cubase's engineering so naturally I would see what audio interfaces they had. After doing quite a few comparisons using Sweetwater and the web I chose this product and it has been amazing. I dont need 16, 8, 6, or even 4 channels to record. Just two and simple analogue controls to go with it. Portable and sturdy and works flawlessly with Cubase. I look forward to producing even more in depth music with this interface.

I checked out the UR22 because I needed something to easily record with Garageband. The UR22 has been the ultimate solution to my needs. Easy to use, very efficient interface and controls. 2 mic preamps are great for recording various tracks. Cubase is included, so if you're also in need of recording software the UR22 has you covered. MIDI in and out as well as headphone out with independent level control. Sleek design looks awesome in any studio.

Comments about Steinberg UR22 USB Audio Interface:

With so many interfaces on the market, it can be tough to choose one. If you are looking for quality AND durability, look no further than the UR22. WIth clean preamps and a sturdy housing, I found this interface to be a joy to record with. What sets it apart, however, are the convertors. Clean A/D and D/A signals really hammer home the value of this interface.

Comments about Steinberg UR22 USB Audio Interface:

There is no single piece of gear that I believe in more than the humble UR22.

Recording at 24 Bit / 192k into the razor flat, inverted Darlington Circuit Pre-Amps with twice the industry standard number of resistors into a phenomenal D/A Converter at the same price as the super bright in tin-y Scarlets or the overly bland and boring Audiobox USBs, there literally isn't a contest.

The additional resistors give a very clean pre-amp with little noise, the inverted Darlington Circuit means the pre's can get as loud as you need, while still being a smooth increase. If you've ever been frustrated by the gain structure on the M-Boxes and fought with the super non-linear, hyper logarithmic waytooquiet-waytooquiet-waytooloud-waytooquiet-waytooloud gain twiddle, this is the answer to your prayers.

There is no better 2 channel interface for 3 times the price. Period.

This is a real hands-on review from Ryan @ Sam Ash, Phoenix, AZ

Comments about Steinberg UR22 USB Audio Interface:

The Steinberg UR22 is unlike most 2 channel audio interfaces on the market in that it has so much to offer at such an affordable price. There are 2 tremendous sounding microphone preamps for using dynamic or condenser mics. These same mic inputs can accept guitar signal (channel 2) or signal from a keyboard or drum machine. There are 2 balanced outputs on the back for hooking up a pair of studio reference monitors. This item also doubles as a MIDI interface, having MIDI IN/OUT on the back for connecting to external electronic instruments. This high resolution (24-bit/192kHz) interface is a must for artists seeking the highest audio fidelity at an affordable price. Paired with Cubase AI6 recording software make this the ultimate recording bundle in the $150 price range. This is a real hands on product review from Ryan@ Sam Ash King of Prussia.

Great recording quality from a compact desk top interface. 2 lines in and 2 out are perfect for a lot of different applications. Use the combination XLR/ 1/4 inch plugs to plug in any microphone or instrument. Two class A D-Pre mic preamps with phantom power. USB bus powered makes it great when you are on the road. This is the third interface I've owned and I am totally satisfied with the recordings its provided me with. Easy to hook -up, essentially plug into the USB port , run the start-up program and you are ready to record. This 24 bit unit has excellent mic -pres and can deliver pro results. It includes 48V phantom power supply to power your favorite condenser mic. Hard to top for a home studio.

Comments about Steinberg UR22 USB Audio Interface:

I have been doing home recording for several years. This interface really makes it easy. The built in preamps make everything sound great. Plug in a good vocal recording mic and let the interface do the rest. Not too much editing is needed to get a good sound. You can also plug an instrument straight into it. This interface will last for years and you will make many great recordings to use for demo or semi-professional purposes. The software that comes with it is easy to use and if you have your own program this interface will do just fine. This is a hands on review from Zak at Sam Ash Buffalo Grove.
