Comments about Groove Percussion DK120WRB 5 Piece Drum Set with Cymbals and Hardware:

The Groove Percussion GDK120 kit is definitely geared towards those just starting to learn how to play. It is an excellent choice for a first drum kit, as it was my first one as well. Does it sound like a professional level kit? No, and it's not supposed to be. The GDK120 is a set for beginners, a cheap and easy way for parents to judge if their child actually has interest in playing. The only downside to this kit is the cymbals are not really cymbals, and I would suggest replacing them. I would suggest looking into the Groove Percussion GDK160. Read my review there.

Comments about Groove Percussion DK120WRB 5 Piece Drum Set with Cymbals and Hardware:

You cannot beat the price for this set. Excellent starter shells, however the cymbals are a total dud! Especially the crash cymbal. Honestly, it would have been better off excluding them and just provide the stands and better heads in the packet. Upon purchase just prepare to replace each cymbal. Other than that, good look and sound for beginners.

Bad cymbal

Comments about Groove Percussion DK120WRB 5 Piece Drum Set with Cymbals and Hardware:

This set was purchased for an 11 year old beginner. Although the drums sound great, the crash cymbal makes a BONK sound. An experienced drummer I know said that it is useless. After contacting customer support several times, I was told that that is how the cymbal sounds. They actually suggested I contact the percussion department to buy a new cymbal. I just purchased a COMPLETE drum set with cymbals and should not have to purchase a new cymbal as a replacement for one that belongs on top of a trash can.

I bought this kit for my son, he is 9 years old and just starting out on the drums. For the price you cannot beat this set. I can see we will have to replace the heads after not too long as they are poor quality and the crash doesn't really "crash" but overall this is a great kit for a beginner or anyone on a tight budget. Added bonus free, fast & secure shipping. I will definitely check out this site in the future for deals.

Comments about Groove Percussion DK120WRB 5 Piece Drum Set with Cymbals and Hardware:

This not a high quality item but is fine for a beginner. Too many drum resonances. Cymbals are terrible. Moongel and Remo rings help a lot. Even though it is not a good idea, I put a 6" x 12" piece of tea shirt inside the toms through the mount hole. I taped the snares to the resonant snare head with packing tape so I could keep the snares slightly loose. These snares are low end and if even a little tight, they cause a horrible ring. The tape also stopped the toms from getting the snares excited. It actually sounds pretty good. Now for new cymbals.

Comments about Groove Percussion DK120WRB 5 Piece Drum Set with Cymbals and Hardware:

Fine, we all know in these troubled times, we need to find convienance in spending money. I bought this to practice on but as soon as i assembled it all and started to play on it, the sound was horrible. I expected that, so i replaced the heads with some nice aquarians, then i already had cymbals, so i never used these metal round things. All i wanted was something to do as a hobby. I had great sets in the past and since i dont play no more, i figure i buy a cheap set for my time. BIg mistake. This set is untuneable, when you do tune them, they sound like a High School drumline. YOu may think thats cool but it doesnt have that rock feel. I took it back and replaced it with something better. YOU do get what you pay for. Fine, for a kid to practice on, you may get away with that. Heads/Cymbals/Cheap stands, keep that in mind, eventually they will need to be replaced.

This is a great drum just one thing that sucks are the cymbals they both are terrible and I suggest you buy new cymbals scratch that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BUYING NEW CYMBALS !, also buy new heads because the stock sound bad of course and we break within about 3 weeks from buying and get new hardware the stock not that great. But sound is AMAZING definitely buy it for a beginner.

this product is good but good to a point. the snare wire holder is plastic and poorly made. the hi hat stand wont hold the hi hats right. the crash stand is also poorly made because the neck of the stand comes lose. this drum set is mostly for starters but this drum set is not good for hard hitters :(
