Comments about Evans Onyx 2-ply Drum Head:

For my toms, I prefer a darker, drier sound. I used to use hydraulic heads to not have to much ringing, but, I really wanted some sustain that I couldn't get. The Onyx heads are absolutely perfect for me...a 2-ply head, but not hydraulic, coated for a little more attack. It definitely doesn't ring too much, but gives me much more of the tone of the tom than an oil-filled "thud". And they work great for both live and recording. Plus the Evans 360 technology makes them super easy to tune. Highly recommend.
