The SG bass that defined rock!

Epiphone presents the EB-3, a stunning recreation of the vintage marvel with all the tone and feel of the original without the vintage price tag and vintage problems.

In the early 1960s the Kalamazoo factory, home to both Epiphone and Gibson instruments, decided to cease production of the Les Paul guitar. In its place came a radical new guitar design that also influenced the Kalamazoo factory's bass designs. With the Les Paul (temporarily) out of the picture, the SG took over. And for a time during that golden era of manufacturing, the classic SG bass was the historic factory’s sole electric bass.

The Epiphone EB-3 comes with Epiphone’s Limited Lifetime Warranty and Gibson 24/7/365 customer service.

Comments about Epiphone EB-3 Bass Guitar:

I purchased a new Epiphone EB-3 after finally finding one in a store that I could play. Having owned a 1969 EB-3L the Epi was closer in design than the Gibson SG bass, not to mention a $1000 cheaper. When I started playing it there was terrible fret buzz on the first fret. Upon further inspection the nut was cut low on 3 out of the 4 strings. How could this be on a new instrument from the factory. One of the salesmen tried to shim the nut, but when I got it home the bass was almost unplayable. You had to be a gorilla to play any first fret notes. Now that I was bummed out about that, the bass felt more like a block of wood than a fine instrument. When I returned it I played a new SG bass. Nice sound, comfortable but not what I was looking for. I guess you can't go back in time.

Comments about Epiphone EB-3 Bass Guitar:

I've been playing bass for almost 7 years now, and this was the first electric bass I'd ever purchased. I'd had it for about four months, and I loved it! It sounded good for its price, and everyone complimented its looks. After those four months, I realized the strings were too high, but when I went to tighten the bridge, the screws had come loose. At a closer look, I noticed that the screws were not in the bass, but in little metal rings that had been wedged into the bass. Not glued or anything, just wedged in, and ready to pop out and injure someone at any moment. I thought it was no big deal.. I would look into that later. So I went to see if I could shave the nut to lower them, but realized the neck was attached to the bass and was beginning to warp. This was a very sad day for me. Not only was I disappointed with epiphone; [...]

Comments about Epiphone EB-3 Bass Guitar:

this is a great bass!! i got it about 2 months ago as my first bass guitar, i compared it against a bunch of other basses including an ibanez and several comparably priced squiers, and this really was the top (close contest with the ibanez though, cant remember what model it was. Anyway, the ibanez was a lot more than what i'd been hoping to spend, and this was just right). i play this thru a 150-watt roland keyboard amp, it shake my whole basement!! my family, who previously were some of the many people who do not appreciate bass, are very impressed and have begun to see bass as a more foundational part of music. The low E string does buzz a little, but it cant be heard so much thru the amp and i havent gotten it set up yet, should be fine once i do. this is definitely a stage quality instrument.

technically I have the five string version of this guitar but they are very similar and it is a very good bass, sure I'm not the most experienced bass player in the world but I know I love this bass

Comments about Epiphone EB-3 Bass Guitar:

[...] I have been checking this thing out online for a while and never had the chance to actually play one, first off the finish very nice the picture dont do it any justice,I owned a Gibson EB-3 back in the early to mid 70's, and this baby looks, feels and sounds just like the original, the only differece is the price and this one is very neck heavey, but not a problem for me, its very well crafted, the pick ups really put out, and the neck is very fast, the only con and no big deal was it buzzed alittle on the E and A strings but a minor bridge ajustment and she was perfect, if your looking to buy the Gibson reissue SG Bass, save your money and buy this little gem, This bass truely holds its ground , dont let the price fool you, it almost did me, until I actually played this baby today and was so impressed I bought it, I recomend this bas for begginers and seasoned pro's, this thing brings me back to the british invasion, (Jack Brue, The Cream)If you try it, you'll buy it.
