A timeless beauty and exceptional sounding acoustic/electric.

For almost 20 years, the Epiphone PR-5E has been on stages all over the world with countless musicians. Designed by Epiphone in 1990, its distinctive body shape was patterned after Epiphone's classic ES-335 style guitars such as the Sheraton and Casino. But instead of a double-cutaway, the PR-5E features a unique, single "Florentine" or sharp cutaway. The large lower bout provides excellent lows and a solid mid-range with easy access to the upper frets on the neck. Add to that, a fully-bound, solid Rosewood fingerboard with nicely dressed medium/jumbo frets and you'll never want to put it down.

The Performer™ lives up to its name with the new Epiphone eSonic2™ preamp system.  Made in cooperation with Shadow Germany, the new eSonic2 preamp features a built-in, easy to use tuner.  When engaged, the guitar’s output is automatically muted – with no “popping” noise - making it a perfect choice for stage use.   You can even push in the “tuner” button and unplug the guitar without a loud “pop.”  Other controls on this state-of-the-art preamp include Master Volume, NanoFlex Tone, NanoMag Tone, Stereo Blend, Low Battery indicator and a Phase switch to help eliminate unwanted feedback.  The preamp uses two 2032 lithium watch batteries that are not only lightweight, but provide significantly longer life than old-fashioned, heavy 9V batteries. Comments about Epiphone PR-5E Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The back strap button was loose when I got it, so I hand tightened. I didn't want to use a tool and damage the guitar and did not want to have it fall inside, the way the previous commenter mentioned. All in all, a great guitar for the price, with good sound.
In case anyone has difficulties finding the plug for the amplifier, its on the back strap button.
On board electronics are great, especially the built in tuner.

Comments about Epiphone PR-5E Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Looks and sounds good both unplugged and pluged in. Nice thin body. Nice tuning machines. Handy built-in tuner / pre-amp is a nice feature. The action was pretty low right off the shelf. I may lower it a bit more unless it causes too much buzz. The only real problem I have had with it is the jack / strap button came unscrewed inside the body. I can't get my arm down inside the body far enough to tighten it back up. I'll have to take it in to Sam Ash and have their tech try to fix it. I don't know how they do this. Even my 8 yr old daughter couldn't get her arm all the way down inside the body to thread the jack / strap button nut back on.

Comments about Epiphone PR-5E Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is a fun little guitar to haul around with ya and practice on. With it's slim body making it incredibly easy to sit with. The E-sonic tuner is a nice addition and shows that Epiphone is really stepping it up with their guitars. Little bit of a fret buzz though I do not want to raise the action on this guitar.
