If you could only own one bass...

Pros

  • Great Passive Tone

Cons

  • none

Best Uses

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass:

I absolutely love this bass. I have never been a huge fan of active electronics because I think it robs some subtle tones of finger techniques. Passive tone is terrific on this bass. I can recommend no improvements. The active tone controls work great and bring a very modern sound to a classic. I anticipate using this bass in passive mode 60% of the time, but thanks to this bass, I only need to bring one solid body bass to the gig. Oh, yeah - It plays as good as it sounds!
    Worth every penny.

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass:

The bass is a versatile bass, likely the most capable Fender Jazz Bass on the market. The Passive/Active selection is terrific. I never thought I would want an active tone but this jazz delivers and the switch is so easy I end up making the switch during songs several times. I would recommend this as a semi-pro or pro bass. The clarity of tone is incredible and you will not be disappointed. You will have to consolidate pickup selection to a blend knob. I do not think this is a negative feature, but it is a break from the formula of Fender Jazz basses.

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass:

I got this bass. It sounds great, it plays great and it makes me sound like I know what I'm doing! It even looks good! There is a huge difference between these and the squire version. Not much else to say really. If you're a seasoned bass player who has been playing cheaper made basses you will appreciate this one from the first time you gig with it. I've no clue why but my hands don't fatigue nearly as fast on this bass either. Everything just seems to roll a lot easier with it, but that could be all in my head. The best thing to do is for you to go pick one up, play it for 15 - 20 minutes and decide for yourself. Go back to the store a few times a week and give it a fair evaluation if you need to. For me this bass was the best choice. Before I got this one I was a big Peavey "old school Peavey" fan, but since Peavey's I looked at in the stores that carried them didn't have any working electronics I picked up the Fender and I am happy with it. My old American made Peavey T-40 is a great bass, but I now mainly play my Fender!
