The Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass delivers timeless tone, feel, and style of the '70s, without the vintage guitar price tag.

The Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass brings back pure '70s vibe with much of the J-Bass tradition from that era. This bass retains all the vintage aesthetics of the iconic '70s-style Jazz Bass. The familiar contoured offset body is made from Maple, and is outfitted with a pair of Fender-Designed Single-Coil Jazz Bass pickups. These Fender-designed pickups are full of growling, authentic Fender tone.

The Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass '70s has a slightly thinner "C"-shaped neck profile (the shape of the neck in cross section) than most models, providing a fast, smooth and comfortable fret-hand feel. The slim taper maple neck features a black-bound maple fingerboard and black block inlays. Capped off with a period-correct black pickguard, the Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass '70s is an affordable funk-machine that has all the versatility and tonal range that made the Jazz Bass the legend that it is. Case not included.

  • Vintage-tint maple neck with “C”-shaped profile
  • 20-fret maple fingerboard with black binding and black block inlays

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass '70s:

Out of the box, this was set up perfectly. No intonation issues. No fret buzz.

The neck is so smooth to play on. The frets are just right. The width and radius make it so easy to play, especially if you're new to playing an electric bass. It's nothing to get used to.

It's well balanced and hangs just right. My picking hand/arm are in a very neutral position with no bend to the wrist, which is crucial for extended playing periods.

I got the natural finish. The body is a three-piece. It was matched so well that you can hardly see the seams.

The only knock is that the fret dots on the top of the neck are hard to see. They are half in the black binding and half on the maple neck and they are cream colored. In certain lighting conditions, the top of the frets reflect light, confusing your eye for a split second in thinking they're all fret dots.

It's a little thing and once you're used to playing the instrument, muscle memory takes over, so it's by no means a deal breaker. There are just too many other aspects to love about this bass.

Lots of tonal possibilities with the two pickups. You can go all bridge or all neck or a variety of blends, using the two volume knobs. The possibilities multiply from there using the tone knob. It is very versatile.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass '70s:

I've had this bass since April. It only needed a minor saddle adjustment to kill the fretbuzz. This is now my no.1 bass. I like the sound more than my Pedulla MVP.
