D'Addario XL Electric Guitar strings are world-renowned as "The Player's Choice" amongst guitar players of all genres and styles. XL strings are wound with nickelplated steel and are known for their distinctive bright tone and excellent intonation.

D'addario pays more to have their ball ends precision turned from solid brass stock. The edges have radii that prevent the ball end from cutting into wooden bridges or guitar tops. Each string is twisted to perfection right down to the three neatly wrapped "lock twists." And those lock twists help keep their plain steel strings from unraveling or breaking prematurely. Each and every spool of precision drawn high carbon steel wire D'addario uses goes through three quality control tests before it becomes a set of D'addario strings. Pioneering innovative string design has been a D'Addario family tradition for nine generations. Most guitar players don't realize that the inner core wire in ALL D'Addario steel strings is made from carefully drawn, hexagonally shaped, high carbon steel wire. The six "edges" of the core wire bite into the softer wrap wire, securing it all along its length. Environmental Package.

Comments about D'addario Exl120 Xl Super Light (9-42) Electric Guitar Strings:

Melodic Lead Guitar with riffs similar to Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Rarely have one break and if he does, it's not because of the strings. ;)

Comments about D'addario Exl120 Xl Super Light (9-42) Electric Guitar Strings:

I've been a die-hard D'Addario customer since the late 70's. Consistent product and I never worry about my strings. Only issue I ever had was back in 1980... had a batch of .009's that kept breaking - wrote D'Addario a letter and shortly after received 10 .009's. Now THAT is customer service!

Comments about D'addario Exl120 Xl Super Light (9-42) Electric Guitar Strings:

The first two weeks of playing a new set of EXL 120's are great. The sound is VERY brite and the feel is excellent. But right at two weeks, the tone becomes flat and the smooth feel disappears.

I practice 1-2 hours daily with average sliding and bending (no tremolo) so I'm not applying a great deal of stress to these strings. If they maintained their feel and tone for about a month, they would be a great set of strings, but at the moment, I'm stuck with changing every two weeks.
