Comments about Gretsch G9310 New Yorker "Supreme" Mandolin:

My rating is based on the fact that this is a "starter" grade instrument and it fills that need very nicely. The finish is great considering the natural look that Gretsch was going for.
This is my first attempt at playing a mandolin, after 50+ years on guitar. The biggest challenge is the size of the mandolin in general. String and fret spacing are really close, so a good deal of quality control has to go into producing such an instrument, and making it playable.
The quality of the 9310 is sufficient to let me get a good feel for the mandolin, and decide whether I'm going to get along with it and possibly move on to higher quality equipment.
And many thanks to Andy in the Charlotte store for all his set-up expertise.
So this really seems like a great place to start.
