Comments about DigiTech Bad Monkey Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

Tried out several distortion/overdrive boxes, for the price, this one I felt was the best deal.
Has a lot of control knobs, so it gets a lot of different levels of overdrive. I don't care for a ton of distortion, and this one goes beyond what I prefer, yet on the other side it does go from heavy to subtle, and depending on what I'm playing, it covers all the bases for me. It's fairly quite as far as overdrive boxes are. I didnt get much "hiss" or "buzz" until I got up to "8" on the gain and level. Has a high and low for the tone controls and two outputs, for the amp and mixer. It's built like a tank with a heavy duty spring under the pedal. With the right adjustments I get a thick rich tube sound with both my solid state and tube amps. The color and name "BAD MONKEY" give it that "cool" factor, lol.
The way you change the battery is clever and seems plenty sturdy. I do believe this is a true bypass, I didn't notice any change in my sound when the box is off. Distortion and Overdrive boxes can be subjectively rated, It all depends on your own personnel tastes. For me this one was the ticket, and at a very reasonable price. It is not an over the top distortion box, but a true tube overdrive unit that can get pretty raunchy. I usually prefer MXR type of stomp boxes because of thier simplicity and great sounds. But this one gave me more options and a lot of great sounds. All I can say is try it out for yourself, you may fall in love with it or hate it, or just go "ho hum". I tried a lot of these, and this one did the job very well, and at a price that didn't break the bank.

Comments about DigiTech Bad Monkey Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

"This pedal is perfect for a lot of different things. I was also surprized at the wide range of different tones its capeable. If you're looking for mega distortion, go with the DigiTech GRUNGE pedal, but if your looking for it's slightly more mature older brother, you have found it here. The bad monkey is sweet. Period. Its also good in combo w/ my Marshall amp's overdirve. This baby also is great for acoustic-electric guitars. Add a Delay and your rockin just like an electric. GREAT PEDAL!"
