The original award-winning ValveKing line was designed to feature all of the tonal qualities and attention-to-detail circuitry of a boutique amplifier, but with a price point real working guitarists could afford. With the next generation of ValveKing, Peavey has taken this idea even further and delivered one of its most tonally sophisticated lines of amps yet, tailored for the versatile needs of today's working guitarists.

In addition to all the boutique qualities and hot-rodded tones that guitarists have come to expect from the ValveKing series, the next generation line incorporates brand new cutting-edge features for recording and performing musicians. For the recording musician, the ValveKing II features a USB direct recording output, which pipes the mic'ed amp vibe directly into a computer. On the rear panel, the built-in Peavey MSDI (Microphone Simulated Direct Interface) XLR direct interface eliminates the need for miking by allowing users to send the amp's signal directly to a recording device or mixing console.

With versatile tone for rock, jazz, or metal, the new generation ValveKings have the capabilities to create almost any sound imaginable. ValveKing's proprietary Texture knob enables guitarists to adjust the ValveKing's "class" characteristics, allowing for complete power amp type versatility. True to its name, the ValveKing II even includes the new TSI tube-monitoring indicator that keeps you apprised of the health of your tubes!

The Peavey ValveKing II offers other high-end features like variable power control, so you can tailor your output to your performance situation without compromising tone. With triple 12AX7s, two independent foot-switchable channels each with their own EQ, and the Vari-Class variable Class A/AB simulation control, the next generation ValveKing delivers massive amounts of completely customizable all-tube power.

Features:

  • Two 6L6GC and three 12AX7 tubes
  • Separate EQ for each channel
  • Footswitchable gain/volume boost on lead channel
  • Reverb with level control
  • Buffered effects loop
  • Damping control controls Presence and Resonance at the same time
  • Patented Microphone Simulated Direct Interface (MSDI) output with ground lift and speaker mute switch
  • 2 powered outputs with impedance switch for using an external cabinet
  • 50w, 12w and 2w power switch
  • TSI tube monitoring with LED pass/fail indicator lights
  • 2 footswitch inputs. One controls Channel & Boost. One controls Reverb & Effects loop
  • Two independent footswitchable channels
  • USB direct recording output
  • Vari-Class variable Class A simulation control

Comments about Peavey Valveking II 50-Watt Combo Guitar Amplifier:

I wanted a tube Amplifier that had a jazzy warmth clean and the old school tube crunch, while still powerful enough to get in front of our drummer. This fills the bill nicely. Very little background noise, it is as quiet as a solid state amp. It will go way over the top with gain, about double what I would ever use. The dampening control for the bass and the blendable A / AB function control give even more sound dynamics. Fully to the AB side has close to he same voicing of old Fender tube amps. Hard to beat the 12AX7 & 6L6 tube complement for traditional tones.
The 50/12/2 watt selector switch on back is a GREAT feature, letting me practice in the house and use very close to the same tones as when playing out. You just cannot do that on most tube amps. Plus, on the two watt setting the amp runs very cool, after a 3 hour practice session, I can still touch the metal guard around the power tubes, I believe this and the standby switch will help get longer tube life.
Since I like to put my Combo amps on a stand so I can easily adust the controls, the forward mounted knobs (and power/standby switches) are another feature I really like. For as big as it is and much power as it has, it does not seem too heavy, The only thing is the foot switch is set up for channel/boost. If you want to switch the reverb, it takes another footswitch. At least the foot switches do not cost much, but have to be purchased seperately. If it holds up, I can see this quickly becoming my favorite amp.
