The Taylor 114e Acoustic Electric Guitar delivers Taylor quality at a working musician’s price!

The Taylor 114e is part of the redesigned 100 series of acoustic guitars. The Taylor 114e Acoustic Guitar boasts a bookmatched Sitka Spruce soundboard with Taylor's "X" bracing. The Taylor 114e also features their Grand Auditorium body style, which is a slightly smaller body that is similar to the classic dreadnought shape of the 110 model, yet delivers that characteristic big dreadnought tone. The back and sides are constructed from layered sapele, which possesses a similar aesthetic and tone as mahogany. As a tonewood, sapele is denser and harder than mahogany, so it has a slightly brighter sound than its more familiar counterpart. Sitka Spruce grows in a coastal "pocket" from Northern California to Alaska. This dense, straight-grained wood has the highest strength and elasticity-to-weight ratio among available tonewoods, an attribute that makes it an ideal material not only for soundboards, but for internal bracing, as well.

When it's time to plug in and hit the stage, the Taylor 114e features the Expression System Transducer, or ES-T, is a single-source, under-saddle transducer with individual elements for each string. The ES-T has an onboard preamp and features a custom-voiced EQ with a simplified volume, bass, and treble control layout. The system is powered by a 9-volt battery, with a battery life LED power indicator. The pickup also has a Phase switch for feedback control, which is located on the preamp board inside the soundhole. The Taylor 114e is equally at home on stage, in studio, or the front porch. A Taylor Gig Bag is included.

Comments about Taylor 114E Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar (Natural):

It's a Taylor, so of course the build quality and acoustic tone are great, but my favorite part of this guitar is the preamp. Very transparent with the perfect amount of output.

Comments about Taylor 114E Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar (Natural):

The name Taylor is synonymous with quality in terms of guitars. Even at this superb price, expect a quality instrument in the 114E, where you are unlikely to relegate to collecting dust. Constructed with solid Sitka on top with Sapele back and sides, the finish is beautiful. The playability is great! A standout feature is the ability to plug in as an electric guitar, with simple 2 band EQ controls.

Great playing and great sounding guitar for the price range! Neck feels great! Tone is amazing! Great for a travel guitar- the multi layer Sapele travels really well or even for a beginning player. Its the type of guitar that you wont outgrow.

Comments about Taylor 114E Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar (Natural):

I have been an employee at Sam Ash for nearly five years and I have been happy to be a Taylor dealer the entire time. They make high quality instruments across the board. Whether you're spending $600 or a couple thousand, you're going to get an instrument that competes with anything in its price range, and in many cases, Taylor competes favorably with guitars in higher ranges. They are a great company, starting at the top with Bob Taylor.

This guitar packs a great tone and a great price. I prefer no cut away as you get a richer tone with a full body. The electronics sound great plugged in making this an affordable guitar for live gigs with out worrying about bringing a super expensive option. The final bonus is the padded gig bag that comes with it. Most guitars in that range don't have that option.

Comments about Taylor 114E Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar (Natural):

Taylor has always been one of the best acoustic guitar companies out there with each of its lines having somethig unique about it. The 114E is a great for anyone looking for a quality guitar without breaking the bank. Solid Sitka top with Sapele back and sides. The best feature of the guitar is that it also has electronics so you can plug it into any amp or PA if you were to go out and play shows.

The 114 is an affordable but high quality Taylor guitar. The grand auditorium body offers a guitar that is versatile for any playing style. It projects well with fingerstyle as well as with a pick. The combination of sapele and spruce as tone woods provides a well balanced tone that is suitable for a wide variety of music genres. Even though this is an entry level option from Taylor, they still build an instrument with great playability and quality craftsmanship. This is an instrument suitable for anyone beginner to advanced looking for a great playing and sounding guitar at a great price.
