Comments about Latin Percussion Caliente Series Bongo Drums:

I was actually going to the store to buy the Ardiente Bongos when I saw the Calientes on display. I started playing them and at that moment I knew these were the Bongos for me. These LP Caliente Bongos are really good for the money. Although I would recommend that when you take them home, remove the heads and put a little Almond Oil around the rim of the head (where the head meets the rim). That area takes a pounding and the oil will help keep it moist and not dry to prevent cracking. Then tighten them for your Tuning preference. When you buy them you have to tune them anyway so add the oil then. I tune high so don't be afraid of tightening them. LP's can take a pounding so don't get scared of tightening them if you tune high. Most of the Bongos out there that sound bad are most likely due to tuning. The construction is beautiful and sound they produce is as beautiful as they look. What attracted me to this bongo was the sound; El Martillo (one of the sounds of the Bongo) had the perfect pitch for me. The other Bongo sounded great but this one won me over. Good Luck on your buy and like I said don't be afraid to tune it right!!
