The 6445 set of bass strings may have a coating of only one micron, but it's more durable than coatings thousands of times its thickness. It won't flake off with hard playing, nor will it feel slick or slippery to your touch. Super-high tension winding over a hex-core is used to maintain tuning consistency throughout performance duration. EMP Treatment is then applied to all the strings (including the plain strings) to ensure longest tonal life without compromises.

Gauges: .045, .065, .085, .105.

Comments about Cleartone 6445 4 String Bass String Set (.045- .105):

Absolutely can't tell that these are coated strings at all. They are bright without being super honky that you have to break in, they are smooth to play, and only sound better the longer you have them. They last an insanely long time with heavy use while still sounding fresh as can be, I play every day and change mine once every 10 months to a year. I guess I'll have to give Elixirs a fair try because they are the only brand I haven't used on bass yet, but have no idea what the last review was about saying these strings aren't good. They are downright amazing. I don't do reviews but I stand by the products that stand by me. The price is absolutely worth every last penny. Try them and you'll never look back!

Comments about Cleartone 6445 4 String Bass String Set (.045- .105):

There really isn't anything I can say good about these strings. I thought they would be comparable to the Elixirs I always get... Not the case. They sounded so bad that after I strung my bass, I thought there was something wrong with the instrument. I just now changed back to my five-string set of Elixirs that I've had for over a year. Needless to say, my Elixirs are worn with the coatings stripping off, but they STILL play, feel, and sound better. The Cleartones are so thick and rigid that "Dead" now truly qualifies as a tone quality in my book. The only decent sound I got was low and tight. But they were still lacking heavily in projection. Don't expect poppy high end. I have a Diamond Series Studio 5 with EMGs and still can't get that treble rockin'. What makes it so bad is that the four-string set is around [$]. Add the low B and it comes out to about [$] I'm adamant about getting at least store credit back. Experienced players will be disappointed and both inexperienced and experienced musicians will be wishing they saved that money for a couple of week's worth in groceries.
