The Ludwig Drum Company was established in 1909 by the sons of a German immigrant. One brother, William Jr., was a professional drummer, but because his work was so irregular, William and his brother opened up a drum store. Since then, the company has grown, gaining notoriety in 1964 when Ringo Starr and the Beatles played on the Ed Sullivan Show. Ludwig’s logo was on the bass drum for the world to see. Many other musicians have created iconic songs on Ludwig drums, as well, like Alex Van Halen and Marky Ramone. Ludwig drum kits are a pride and joy within the drummer community.
In addition to drum kits, Ludwig sells concert percussion like tom and timpani drums. Ludwig also offers snare drums, drum luggage, drum heads and educational kits. Any drum accessory or necessity a musician may need can be found from Ludwig. Their drum series includes Legacy Classic, Classic Maple, Vistalite, Keystone, Club Date, Epic, Element Birch, Element, and Accent.
The Ludwig team has a passion for creating exception drum kits. The attention to detail and the quality of care that goes into each Ludwig drum ensures that every musician, from novice to expert, receives an instrument of outstanding quality. Every concert drum, hand-wound mallet and drum accessory undergoes the same “white-glove” treatment before leaving the Ludwig factory, which is why Ludwig is “The Most Famous Name on Drums.”
