Arturia was founded by engineers Frederic Brun and Gilles Pommereuil in Grenoble, France in 1999. From the beginning, Arturia has focused on the development of new electronic music tools and software. Their first offering, an all-in-one virtual studio called Storm, allowed relative newcomers to recording to create music at an affordable price point.
In 2003, Arturia shifted its focus to producing software synths that recreate the sounds of vintage analog synthesizers. Their emulations have been praised by many in the music industry, including inventor of Robert A. Moog, the inventor of the Moog Synthesizer. In recent years, Arturia has further expanded its offerings by moving beyond software emulations. The release of the MiniBrute and MicroBrute in 2012 marked the beginning of Arturia’s foray into 100% analogue Monophonic synthesizers.
While younger than many other manufacturers, Arturia has already made a big impression on amateur and professional musicians alike. The roster of musicians using Arturia’s products is long, distinguished and encompasses a diverse array of musical styles-from Keith Shocklee of Public Enemy to Coldplay co-producer Richard Simpson to Anthony Gonzalez of M83. From the professional-grade, feature rich KeyLab 88 to the versatile and intuitively designed MiniLab 25-Key USB Controller, Arturia has a synthesizer for every skill level and price range.
