Comments about BlackStar HT STAGE 100 - 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I play thrash metal through this beast. Low tunings never get muddy. This amp really responds and performs differently depending on the guitar/pickups. I use DiMarzio in a Strat and it sounds like a chainsaw. If I play an ESP w/ EMGs, it sounds more like a stump grinder. I have used this amp's clean channel for solo classical performances, and it has cleaner tone than anything I've owned. If you want vintage tone, it's there: VOX,Fender,Marshall. Excellent amp for an affordable price!

Comments about BlackStar HT STAGE 100 - 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

A great tube amp, especially for the price.
The Blackstar HT head is quite the piece of gear. The cleans sparkle with plenty of headroom, the drives can range from crunchy to sharp as a razor, and the spring reverb sounds really nice and lush, colorful and deep.
The ISF knob is a cool function, balancing between American and British style circuitry. The tones from each side of the knob are distinct, and they blend well when you keep the knob towards the middle. Each side of the knob is a great sound too.
I'm just not a huge fan of having one EQ for two different Drive channels.

I use this as a recording amp for my project studio. If I had the chance, I would choose this for a live amp in a heartbeat. I love the organic to-the-ear tone, as well as its mic'd up sound.

I play lots of Progressive Rock and Metal; this amp might not be one of the ultra mega kick you in the face amps, but it can definitely cut through for metal when set right and accompanied by the right cab and guitar. Then again, this can suit any type of music, depending on other tonal factors. Very versatile and flexible.

I really dig this amp. It would be cool to try to experiment with the tubes, replacing them with other higher quality ones. Though what this amp comes equipped with works and sounds absolutely great.

Comments about BlackStar HT STAGE 100 - 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I play mainly 70s/80s rock ranging from Led Zep to AC/DC to Van Halen to Dokken and then some Alice in Chains. This amp covers all of that ground while letting me find my own sound and tone. The amp is a beast at low volumes and as I raise the volume even more, it gets better. There really isn't a problem with this amp, except it is on the heavy side. If anything, I would change the tubes just to experiment with it and see how much better the amp could sound. Had it for about 3 months now and there have been no reliability issues. I look forward to buying more Blackstar amps in the future.
