Squier brings you the welcome return of a long-vanished Fender classic in the deeply satisfying form of the Vintage Modified Bass VI six-string bass. The original model of 1961-1975 has provided distinctively voiced low end for everyone from the Beatles to the Black Keys, Cream to the Cure, and many others.

The Vintage Modified Bass VI delivers authentically vintage-style look and tone, with a few modern touches such as a comfortable “modern C” neck profile and 9.5” fingerboard radius (the originals were 7.25”), and three custom Jaguar single-coil pickups with notched “claw” shielding rings (reverse-wound/reverse-polarity middle pickup).

Other features include the model’s classic 30” scale (standard tuning one octave lower than a guitar), maple neck, bound rosewood fingerboard with 21 medium jumbo frets and pearloid block inlays, four two-position slider switches (on/off switch for each pickup and one bass-cut “strangle” tone circuit switch), tortoise shell pickguard (three-ply white-black-white on Black model), two black plastic control knobs (master volume, master tone), and vintage-style six-saddle
bridge with non-locking floating vibrato. Case not included.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Bass VI Bass Guitar:

First impression out of the box:
Great finish, beautiful shape, perfect neck and body cut.

But after further examination, it was a great bass with bad QC,
        here is why:
        1. Cheap nut with uneven spacing, they just saw the nut just enough for the strings to sit.
        2. Bad bridge placement, caused the stings slightly shift down.
High E string was ouf from the neck area after 15th fret.
        3. High bridge set up, creates rattle sound for low strings E A D.
        4. Combination of uneven strings spacing on the nut and bad bridge placement make the string not properly align with pick ups poles.

Had to pay my luthier to break in and set this bass up. Paid a quarter of total price I pay for this bass.

After the set up, bass become more playable. Tested on Peavey VYPYR-VIP 2 (as bass and as guitar).
Bass sound is a good old school bass sound, with a bit of twang.
        Guitar sound is great for first 4 strings (High E - B - G - D). Become muddy on Low E and A string.

Good bass for a spare to my Ibanez workshop SRC6 that share same tune & short scale bass.
If you have extra money, better get the real Fender Bass VI one instead of this.
If not and you need Bass VI, get this Squier, hopefully yours is better QC than mine.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Bass VI Bass Guitar:

When I saw the price for this guy I couldn't believe it. Fender's rare missing link from the early to mid 70s in all of its vintage styled glory for a bargain price. Don't let the price fool you, this piece's build quality is superb and offers an original style jazzmaster/jaguar style bridge. This is too much instrument for the price.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Bass VI Bass Guitar:

The "claw" shields on the Jaguar single-coil pickups make them exceptionally quiet when used individually, but when the bridge or neck pickup is combined with the reverse wound, reverse polarity middle pickup, whisper quiet humbucking operation is achieved.
