Amptweaker's TightMetal Jr pedal shares most of the tone-tweaking features available on their guitar counterparts, but with the popular Dry Low knob found on other Amptweaker Bass pedals 'on the side'. This blend adds in clean lowend to the tone, helping to maintain the bottom without adding weird phase-shifty tones to the distorted highend.

The Tight control and Fat switches were re-configured into a 3-position Fat/Normal/Tight switch to dial in the attack of the notes from thick and heavy to aggressive and chunky. An EQ switch similarly provides Plexi(Thrash on Bass TightMetal JR)/Normal/Smooth tone settings.

In addition to Gain, Tone and Volume knobs, there’s also a manually-adjustable Noise Gate which can be cranked to stop notes hard and fast. And the great thing about a built-in noise gate is that it goes away when you turn the pedal off.....so your clean tone is unaffected! The Tight switch and Tone control were tweaked on these bass versions to operate at lower frequencies, making them perfect for bass OR lower tuned guitars such as 7 or 8-strings. They also work great for guitar rigs that are very bright, and can provide a warmer tone compared to the guitar versions.

The most dynamic bass distortion I've used.

I'm primarily a finger player, so dynamics are huge in my playing.
Many bass distortions sound awesome with a pick, but can be hard to get right otherwise.
Once I got it dialed in, I can back off on the volume on my bass a hair, and get a nice saturated low tone, then crank up the volume, hit the strings and rock.
I've tried so many distortions that I've lost count, this one is the best for me, my hunt is over.
The blend knob is key, you can set it so there's no change in your bottom end when you kick it on. I had to run line selectors/loops with an EQ to even out my tone with other boxes, not so with this thing.
It also has a wide range of tones, each knob is really sensitive and will affect the behavior of others, so be sure to commit some time to dialing in exactly what you want.
Still not sure why these aren't more talked about on the bass forums and such, this pedal is one of the best, and at a fair price. I think if they asked $250 for it, people would call it 'boutique' and go nuts.
