Comments about Jean Baptiste Deluxe Soprano Saxophone:

Extremely easy to play and sounds great as well. The different finished and materials allow for more customization at this price point than is usually available. (Vintage Dark Lacquer is my favorite!) You are also provided with a straight and curved neck for your preference and playing situation. Another feature rarely offered at this price point.

Comments about Jean Baptiste Deluxe Soprano Saxophone:

I've played clarinet for 15 years. I bought this saxophone 1 year ago as a beginner, and I've played about 2-3 hours a week since. In a nutshell, the tone is very good and consistent from low B up through high D# (notes as played, not concert). The low Bb can sound good at times, but I have found it often difficult to rein in and keep it from sounding honky. That very well could be from my lack of experience on the sax. Oddly, in the altissimo register I have noticed the E and F to be troublesome, but not so the F#. As a seasoned clarinet player, I have spent a lot of time in that pitch range and I feel confident saying the instrument has a minor resonance issue in that small band from ~1300-1400 Hz. Emphasis on minor...it will play, but I have to adjust the air column and my embouchure more than I should have to. Lastly, regarding the con noted on craftsmanship, there was a loose screw on one post and the low C# key stays shut for the first 10-15 times you press it. I tightened the screw (problem solved), and as for the low C#, I just initially press it rapidly until it opens and then I have no issues for however long I'm playing. I could also get that fixed fairly easily I'm sure. Overall, for someone like me who's a casual player, I feel it was a great buy and it would be for anyone not planning to make money from performing with it.

Comments about Jean Baptiste Deluxe Soprano Saxophone:

Having a tenor sax already, I wasn't sure how much I wanted to invest in a soprano, considering I won't use it as much as the tenor. However, after playing the Jean Baptiste Deluxe, I can tell you it is well worth it. Top notch quality and reliability (as you'd expect from Jean Baptiste) in spades, a great choice for the beginner or intermediate player, even if you have a tenor already get this soprano, you'll love it!

This is a great professional quality sax at a price point that won't break your bank. Its leather and firm felt pads combine with metal resonators and stainless steel springs and pivot screws give it a nice feel with solid seals on every opening so you can get a crisp and clear tone from top to bottom. If you already have a student soprano sax, this would be a great upgrade. It comes with both a straight and curved neck to give you adaptability to your embouchure. Also included are an American made mouthpiece, case, reeds, and cork grease, making this a complete package that will not disappoint!

Comments about Jean Baptiste Deluxe Soprano Saxophone:

It's hard to find a NEW soprano under $2000 that isn't ripe with problems. I have played these at the store and have actually performed multiple paying gigs with them. Good tone. Reactive keys. Responsive horn.

NOTE! NO NEW INSTRUMENT SHOULD BE EVALUATED WITHOUT A PROPER SETUP! DEMAND A REGULATE/ADJUSTMENT.

Comments about Jean Baptiste Deluxe Soprano Saxophone:

This is an awesome soprano sax for the money! The tone is full and balanced across the registers. The horn even responds well at the extreme ends of the instrument range. I would recommend this sax for any jazz doubler or student looking for a solid soprano. If you can find the dark gold finish, that one looks and sounds the best.
