This silver-plated closed-hole model features plateau keys, a C foot, and a deluxe engraved neckjoint

Jean Baptiste brings you an outstanding value in a student flute at a price comparable to school year rental fees. This silver-plated closed-hole model features plateau keys, a C foot, and a deluxe engraved neckjoint. Includes a deluxe velour-lined case complete with carry strap, rod, and care kit.

Teachers recommend this flute because of:

•  The offset G
•  Plateau keys with a C-foot
•  Deluxe case with carry strap and pockets

Since 1932, Jean Baptiste has been devoted to finding value in lower-priced brass and woodwind instruments. Their instruments have passed inspections by shop specialists for durability and then are tested by professional players for tonal quality, intonation and playability. Even after that approval, we continue to demand improvements and check out every piece before it is shipped. The result is Jean Baptiste instruments representing a value unequaled anywhere.

This instrument backed up by one of the best warranties of any instrument on the market: five-year warranty on broken keys and a full one-year warranty on parts and labor.  If we cannot fix the instrument, we will replace it with another instrument of equal quality FREE.

Comments about Jean Baptiste JBFL284 Silver Plated Student Flute:

I've had this flute since 4th grade, and I'm currently a freshman in high school. I must say, I have put this flute through A LOT, between subjecting it to quite a few drops in 4th and 5th grade, to not very consistent cleaning in middle school, and now to marching band in high school. And it's lasted me this long, with pretty good sound. It was GREAT in elementary school, even my band director said so. However, in middle school, it started going down. I quit the band at school, because I really didn't like the director, and instead, switched to private lessons. My teacher said that the flute wasn't very good quality, and I was better off getting a higher end, brand name flute. However, I had decided that I was going to quit private lessons and join marching band when high school started anyways, so I ignored her suggestion. Boy, was I wrong. When I joined marching band, my flute was ALWAYS the one out of tune. It was always 20 sharp, so I began pulling the head joint out A LOT when I assembled my flute. It was still 20 sharp. I tried a bunch of different things both suggested by my section leader and my band director to get in tune, but they only worked sometimes. I began playing very quietly to try to blend in with the rest of the band, and thus, not blare my out-of-tuneness to the world. When concert season started though, my solution to the problem didn't work anymore. I tried and tried and tried to stay in tune, but even if I was PERFECTLY in tune, or close to it, in the beginning of rehearsal, by the end, I would be at least 15 sharp or 15 flat. So, if you bothered to read all this, and you've reached this far (as you can see, I'm very long winded), or if you just scrolled all the way down to the bottom, I'll sum it all up for you in a few sentences: This flute is great for someone who isn't sure if they want to stick with flute. It's cheap, and it's wonderful in the beginning. However, if you are a beginner and know you want to play for many years to come, I recommend picking up something that is a name brand, even if it is used. They are better quality, and will last longer. I, myself, will be getting a new flute tomorrow, probably a Yamaha, because this one just isn't cutting it anymore.

Comments about Jean Baptiste JBFL284 Silver Plated Student Flute:

This is the first flute I had ever bought with no experience what so ever. I truly recommend this flute if your starting of.
I used this flute throughout my four years of high school and i had no problems with it. Although i did needed to take it to the repair shop now and then but the insurance covered it all the time.
I had used it for the schools band, jazz band, orchestra, church and solo performances. Therefore i do recommend to buy this instrument.

Comments about Jean Baptiste JBFL284 Silver Plated Student Flute:

Would never recommend any instrument from this maker to my students. All are very difficult to play in tune. Much better off getting an used name brand flute than this. Please do yourself, your student and their teacher and do not buy these instruments.

I received this as a gift a few years ago and it still works to this very day, but I would have to say that it takes a lot more effort to get out all of your notes than on another flute. Also, the quality isn't so good and the keys are pretty big.

I started playing the recorder when I was 5-years-old. I'm actually 17-years-old. My teacher told me , If I want to study music next year , I should learn how to play the flute if I want to enter a conservatory . I personally like this flute because of its' basic hole possitioning , its' size and weigt . I really recommend this flute for all beginners .
