The DURGA is Theo Wanne's most popular modern Pro-Line mouthpiece. It has a powerful, sexy, lively and fat sound. It comes with an individual serial number, a rhodium Liberty Ligature, alive-gold and heavy copper pressure plates, leather mouthpiece pouch, and a Reed Replacer cap. The DURGA has the most technically advanced design and manufacturing process of any mouthpiece in history. The result is a powerful mouthpiece with a versatile, flexible and huge sound. It both screams and plays a soft ballad with ease! The secret to the DURGA lies in a long, uniquely designed baffle coupled with deeply rounded inner side walls and a special power version of our True Large Chamber that incorporates a Power Ring at the back of the chamber. The Power Ring radically tapers the chamber down. The DURGA gets all the benefits of our Revolutionary True Large Chambers AND the power inherent in a small chamber mouthpieces. Theo Wanne mouthpieces allow you to PLAY better, EXPRESS better, and SOUND better, for real! Join the Revolution! Available in 6, 7 and 8 facing.

- Tim Price

Comments about Theo Wanne DURGA Gold Plated Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:

I first bought a Theo Wanne Gaia Soprano mouthpiece a few years back and loved it. I then bought a TW Durga 9 tenor piece and had to round out my horns with a Durga 9 piece for alto.

I used a Dukoff D9 on alto for many years and whilst I liked the sound, it tended to be thin in the upper register and the bottom register was a little hard to play. The Durga has a great edge but also possesses a full core sound, resulting in a consistent tone in all registers that never sounds thin. You can be playing warm and lush subtones one moment and then screaming the next!

Altissimo is a breeze and also more consistent than any other pieces I've played.

The other thing about Theo Wanne mouthpieces is that they are effortless to play. This often means that you can go up 1 or 2 mouthpiece sizes from what you'd normally use and still feel very comfortable.

The built-in Liberty ligature is brilliant, especially with the option to swap pressure plates. Some players don't believe that ligatures make much difference to sound or response but I disagree....I bought the Theo Wanne pressure plate set and have settled on 3 different metal plates on each of my horns due to the difference these make.

I highly recommend trying a Theo Wanne mouthpiece - especially the Durga - if you get the chance. I think you might be surprised at the result.

Comments about Theo Wanne DURGA Gold Plated Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:

I have been using the Theo Wanne Durga 8 alto saxophone mouthpiece for about two years now. I have tested out many other mouthpieces but this one is hands down the best mouthpiece I have ever used. It took some time to adjust to the new Embouchure, but once I got it down my sound was revolutionized.

I play many different genres such as pop, gospel, funk, jazz and fusion. I was looking for a mouthpiece that was bright enough to pierce through and sit on top of the band during high-energy performances; this mouthpiece definitely gave me this ability. The mouthpiece is so versatile that I can even tone it down to use for small jazz gigs.

I love the tone I am able to get from it and the control is amazing. I can go from a dark smooth sound to an explosive edgy sound in seconds, with little to no effort. It's such a versatile mouthpiece and really makes my work easy as a player.

Comments about Theo Wanne DURGA Gold Plated Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:

I've been using the Durga's on my Alto & Tenor. For me, the long journey to seek out the perfect mouthpiece is finally over. These play so BIG, everyone comments how good I sound and I am therefore WORKING. The Theo Wanne Durga mouthpieces seem to have no limitations. It does not get in the way of my attempts for achieving a certain tonal color I may be going for.

My altissimo notes seem to snap right in. I couldn't be happier or more satisfied with my set up.
