WB98H/C Instrument Microphone
The Shure WB98H/C (the wireless version of the Beta 98H/C) is a premium cardioid condenser instrumental microphone that clamps onto the bell of wind instruments or onto the rim of percussion instruments. The integrated gooseneck and ratcheting swivel joint allows the microphone to be easily positioned and secured in place, and an isolation shock-mount reduces the transmission of instrument 'key noise' and other mechanical noise. A gooseneck angle brace is included to provide better retention of the microphone placement during more active performances.• The WB98H/C features transformerless preamplifier circuitry, which improves linearity across the full frequency range.

Comments about Shure PGX14/BETA98H Digital Instrument Wireless System:
I've owned this for a few months now and I have to say it's fantastic. I use it mostly with sax. First show I played in a warehouse and walked into the shelving area, with the signal going through giant shelves full of stuff, and the range well exceeded the 200 ft in the specs. Ditto for large clubs where I can go out on the floor all the way to the back with a sea of people in between me and the receiver and the sound is still perfect. The sound is as good as any wired mic you'll ever find on most any stage, better than the 57 Beta wired that I also use, which is to say batter than most any mic any venue will give you.
I tried the Samson Airline 77 and returned it (not nearly the sound quality of the Shure, feedback problems, bad key noise, only 1 channel, limited range) and borrowed a friend's Audio Technica, which was as bad. Sound guys have told me they love this thing - very steady signal since you're always the same distance from the mic. Recently, the same tech who said he loved this Shure I was using was having fits dealing with my friend's Audio Technica wireless. Bottom line, spend a little extra money on the Shure, you won't be sorry.
The only thing that keeps this system from being perfect is that it uses a body pack rather than a single clip on transmitter. Unfortunately, the only wind instrument systems I know of which don't use a body pack and are at least the same quality as this Shure are the AMT systems. The AMT systems a superb, but they are nearly double the price. And, the body pack does give you a little more flexibility. You can get adapter cables for next to nothing and use this system with any regular wired mic (with the Shure WA310) or for a guitar or bass.
