Welcome to the world of hassle-free music with Légère synthetic reeds.  Their woodwind reeds are used by some of the best players in the world to teach, perform, and record.  They are completely different from the plastic reeds you may have tried before.

Légère reeds are made from a patented synthetic material with properties similar to those of moist cane.  They are ready to play instantly, so you can spend all your time playing.  They are consistent, reliable, and last a long time.   Most importantly, however, they work!

These Saxophone reeds have a beautiful tone and range, together with all the normal advantages of a synthetic reed.  The new Studio Cut reeds are free blowing, bright and  flexible.  New players should choose the Studio Cut.

It took a long time to transition

Comments about Legere Synthetic Studio Cut Tenor Saxophone Reed (Assorted Strengths):

I struggled for well over a year trying to make the transition. I tried all of the known synthetic reeds. Legere ultimately worked the best for me, hands down.

I'm still not sure that if I buy the same strength and 'cut' that it'll play like the one I have and I do believe that there is definitely a long 'break in' period before the reed gives you it's best. That said, it is so cool to pick up my horn and know exactly what I going to be dealing with once you get the reed to the 'working stage'. They say that you just put it on and play, but that absolutely hasn't been the case for me personally. I hope maybe I get there.

Everyone is different, but for me personally, this transition was a definite struggle for me, but I went for it because I was sick of dealing with the inconsistency of cane.

To my mind it DOES NOT play as well as a GREAT cane reed. But I find one great cane reed in maybe about 3 boxes, so do the math for the cost factor.

I wish that they were cheaper, but I guess that's the way it's going to be until there's more competition.
