The harmonically rich sound and legendary performance of the Ampeg SVT are redefined in the SVT Classic. This dynamically powerful all-tube bass amp delivers a thunderous 300-Watts of unsurpassed quality, reliability and tonal flexibility. Although other companies have tried to capture the classic all-tube sound of ’60s and ’70s Ampeg bass heads, no one can touch the SVT.

Classic Series Heads are designed for players who are looking for the authentic, vintage Ampeg tube sound that has earned the respect of the industry. With a huge and diverse group of artists endorsements, including George Clinton (P-Funk), Gene Simmons (KISS), Dave "Phoenix" Farrell (Linkin Park), and far too many others to list here, the SVT-CL is a clear favorite. In the world of high performance bass amps it stands head and shoulders above the rest.

Comments about Ampeg SVTCL Classic Series Bass Amplifier Head:

Dude, Its just too darn heavy and it doesn't like being driven/moved around. Also for about the same price you could buy a Carvin full-stack with 3X the power. I sometimes regret not getting a GK, they are light and very powerful. At 300watts its probably one of the lowest powered heads in the market however it doesn't sound like 300watts... It sounds like 700+watts, it can handle a medium size venue(300-500) effortlessly and work as a "house amp" for hours on end day after day. I've had trouble with high-wattage amps, when pushed they tend to chirp, quit or just sound plain awful,, no such(bad) luck with my Classic.. when my classic is pushed it drowns out the other instruments (I've even drown out the drum's!)but enough talk about power. Lets talk about tone.
Have you ever heard a true hi-end component stereo? the kind where you hear new sounds/instruments/vibes on a CD you've listened to a 100 times before, well thats what it sounds like. The first time you hear it, its like tasting bacon for the first time. I had a colleague use my classic for his Country weekend gigs being that his full-stack quit(I have a half-stack & play rock), he immediately complained about the weight & the lack of "bells & whistles". My colleague is one cheap SOB but he went out and bought one Monday morning. I've owned this head for 18+ months and use it for weekly practice and gig with it 5 or more times per month doing 3hour shows and it sounds like the day I brought it home. The head weight 80 pounds but it feels like a hundred, I love my svt classic but its just too darn heavy. The only words of advice I have is DONT BE CHEAP when it comes to your music, if you settle for second best thats what you'll alway be.... second best. This amp sounds & means business.

Comments about Ampeg SVTCL Classic Series Bass Amplifier Head:

I use this head with an ampeg svt810 cab and the sound is second to none. My stage setup used to consist of a decent amount of equipment but now that I purchased this head its been cut down alot. My setup consists of a Fender American series P-Bass with Seymour Duncan quarter pound pickups, Ampeg svt-cl head and Ampeg svt810. It creates a warm tone that I've been trying to find for years. I have had one problem with the power tubes in the 8 months I've had the head but then again it sees the road more then it sits in one place. The controls on the head are more then enough to dial in a tone you love. There is no amp from another manufacurer that can hold a candle to this one. The only down side I could think of is that it weighs about 80 pounds. I would definitly recommend this to anyone looking for an amazing sounding, powerful head.

Comments about Ampeg SVTCL Classic Series Bass Amplifier Head:

I used the SVTCL and 810 cab at home. It sounds great, when it works. Since I purchased the amp, it failed 3 times needing repair twice and finally a replacement. Unfortunately, it too was defective and failed. It has been in the shop two months now. When I called Ampeg to voice my concerns, I was told I would have to wait until the hard to find part was found and the amp could be replaced. No idea when. Thanks Ampeg for your support. I've been without an amp for four months since I made the unfortunate purchase less than a year ago. Save yourself the headache. Go with something else.

Comments about Ampeg SVTCL Classic Series Bass Amplifier Head:

Ok bottom line this thing rocks,is built like a sherman tank, lots of power and if you ever played through an all tube amp before your gonna love what you have been missing, I had the original version of the now called vintage reissue back in the day,and have missed playing through tubes ever since, I was originally going to by the vintage reissue but after compareing didnt notice any difference in sound only difference is the price(pay extra for the vintage look)so I settleled on the classic, the sound and tone are thick, warm, full, and attention grabbing I highly recomend this head to all wishing to go all tube again.
