The original electric bass, evolved: the Fender American Professional Precision Bass.

Bass—it's where rhythm meets melody, creating a righteous groove that forces you to move with it. Without the Fender Precision Bass, the original electric bass, dance floors everywhere would be empty. As music evolves, our instruments change in lockstep; the end result is today's version of this seminal instrument—the American Professional Precision Bass.

The Precision Bass was a truly revolutionary instrument when it was released in 1951. Not only could bassists finally play with perfect intonation, they could be heard along with the rest of the band. From funk to rock, hip-hop to reggae; all of the music that's enriched our lives began with the thunderous Precision Bass.

Developed by longtime bass pickup master Michael Bump, the V-Mod split-coil Precision Bass pickup uses a carefully selected blend of alnico magnet types for balanced tone with authentic Fender sonic DNA. The "golden" '63 P Bass neck profile feels just right nestled in your hand, becoming one with you, while the narrow-tall frets provide a familiar playing feel and perfect intonation. Posiflex graphite support rods run the length of the neck, adding stability to the neck while resisting warping. The redesigned tuning machines use a fluted shaft, creating the optimum break angle over the nut while keeping the string windings tight for increased sustain and enhanced tuning stability.

The best of yesterday and today, the American Professional Precision Bass is the latest form of electric inspiration from Fender. Step up and stake your claim to a legend.

Great new series

The Fender P-Bass has been a staple instrument for bass players for over 60 years. This year Fender came out with the Professional series and it does not disappoint. Biggest changes are the new V-mod split coil pickups which adds a nice balance of classic tone with modern punch and the new warp resistant graphite rod that will low you to keep your bass neck intonated for many years to come.

By which all others are measured!

This is it, all the tone heard on countless recordings. I put this through an Ampeg SVT 3 Pro with a 2x10 and 1x15 cabinet for both thump and clarity, and it absolutely rocks. I have a Standard MIM Jazz bass with Seymour Duncan upgraded pickups and the stock ones on the American Professional Series blew me away. No need to upgrade, this one is ready to rock all stock.

Really cool P Bass blending vintage and modern perfectly

The new line of American Professional instruments from Fender is truly remarkable. This P Bass incorporates features of vintage and modern basses and merges them perfectly into this great package. They've taken the '63 P bass neck shape, put in a redesigned P Bass pickup, better break angle for the strings, bone nut, a higher mass bridge, great hard case, a myriad of finishes to suit any player, etc. Out of the box this instrument requires little to become a great player. Oftentimes on a lot of Fender P and J basses I find myself swapping bridges, pickups, installing a bone nut, etc to really hone it into something special. But fender has taken a lot of the guess work out and just really packaged a lot of bang for the buck in this. It's a great playing and sounding instrument that will last you a lifetime.

pro P Bass

I have always been a fan of the Jazz bass, but I picked this up the other day and it has that really nice 60's neck that I love. The split coil pickups are nice and well balanced (much like the feel of the bass as well) and adding to that the truss rod is graphite which helps with that as well. Overall, I am impressed ,for once, by a P bass
