Whether you are mixing a band or sub-mixing a group of inputs, such as a drumset, the MultiMix 8 USB FX is easy to use, rugged, and packed with features. Offering microphone inputs with phantom power, guitar-direct inputs, and line-level inputs for connecting everything else, plus a wide range of effects, the MultiMix 8 USB FX delivers clean audio to your PA or recording system plus hassle-free computer connection.

MultiMix 8 USB FX features four XLR inputs with independent gain pots on channels one through four. These XLR inputs also have a switchable phantom power option to accommodate both dynamic and condenser microphones. TRS Line inputs are also available on all eight channels of MultiMix 8 USB FX. New to the MultiMix 8 USB FX is a high-impedance input on channel two, which allows direct connection of a guitar or bass; this is a great convenience for singer/songwriters looking to get a clean, "hot" signal. A Tape RCA stereo input is also included adding the ability to mix in audio from other sources such as a CD or LP player.

Record, mix and add effects all in one place.
MultiMix 8 USB FX includes an internal effects processor to quickly and easily add new colors to your mix. Reverb, Delay or Phaser can be dialed up simply by adjusting the pre or post fader knobs located within each channel strip. MultiMix 8 USB FX also contains Aux Out and stereo Returns, as well as, Insert jacks on channels one and two to allow for audio to be processed by external effects engines. MultiMix 8 USB FX gives you an impressive amount of routing options in such a compact size.

Complete USB recording interface
Musicians and engineers can plug the MultiMix 8 USB FX’s class-compliant USB connection into their Mac or PC without installing any software drivers and enjoy a digital-direct stereo connection with virtually any audio software application. The MultiMix 8 USB FX enables bidirectional stereo signal, so musicians can record the stereo Main output into their computer and listen back using the mixer as an interface from software to headphones and monitoring loudspeakers.

A number of key design improvements are included on the MultiMix 8 USB FX. Enlarged knob-to-knob spacing improves ergonomics and in-use efficiency. The newly designed mixer introduces a sleek new appearance for the MultiMix series and incorporates new, removable end caps, which can be helpful for squeezing the MultiMix 8 USB FX into smaller spaces in tightly packed setups. In addition to its improved signal-to-noise ratio specifications, the new mixer consumes 36% less power than its predecessor for reliability and energy efficiency.

Comments about Alesis MultiMix 8 USB FX 8-Channel Mixer USB Audio Interface:

I purchased this unit because my Behringer X1204USB that I only had for less than 2 years started giving me fits. It was making zapping noises intermittently and could no longer be trusted for live gigs. I generally do solo jazz, fingerstyle guitar and work with my wife in a duo performing at Senior Facilities for music therapy. Being on a budget, my Sam Ash rep pointed me to the Alesis. I use two mics, two acoustic guitars and an electric. The Alesis has a guitar switch for guitars without a pre-amp and is a great feature. I would suggest pressing the low cut button when using electric as it sounds a bit muddy when not activated. The USB port like the Behringer works like a charm when using tracks off a laptop. I also like that I can run 1/4" cables (one to my Fishman stick and another to my monitor) and have complete control by using separate knobs. The knobs work much better than sliders which tend to get a lot of static over time. The only drawback is that the Behringer on board effect are much richer than the Alesis. Plus you have to really pump up the master effects to get any richness. I have not used it for home recording but have (after much effort) installed the Cubase LE5 software. Be forewarned: downloading the elicense procedure is a pain in the butt! Overall, very pleased with the bang for the buck for $149.

Works great. I was up and running in minutes, recording to my computer via USB. The instructions in the box for configuring windows 7 were perfect. Super easy to use. Only drawback is no XLR out. Otherwise pretty good product for the price.

Comments about Alesis MultiMix 8 USB FX 8-Channel Mixer USB Audio Interface:

Compared this to the newer 2.0 version and my needs. Looking to merge (4) keyboards and control mix at fingertips vs. reaching around a lot. Also doubles as portable mixer for small gig set-up (all instruments). If you are comparing against the 2.0 and the "10 channel individaul" send to computer, then only upgrade if you are actually doing a lot of recording (band) live and need to split mix later. For me, the issue was mixing my keyboard setup closer at hand and recording as always.....one track at a time, which renders this mixer board very adequate...and a hundred plus bucks cheaper. How often are you really going to mix down live? Most do it from scratch in the studio...so no need for the newer 2.0 in most cases. This is a good deal....very good sound and my KB300's (2) can be turned down a bit...less noise. Don't really care about the effects though. All in all-good concept mixer/USB interface at a great price point

I found this product to be easy and simple to use. Not only was it a great experiance for my band, but it helped promote alot of extra sounds and effects. This was so simple, I bet a Baby could do it. Cheesy, but it's true.
