The LPK25 laptop performance keyboard is a USB-MIDI controller for musicians, producers, DJs and other music creators.

Melodic performance in the palm of your hand.

The LPK25 laptop performance keyboard is a USB-MIDI controller for musicians, producers, DJs and other music creators. It measures less than 13 inches across and weighs less than a pound to easily fit into a laptop case, backpack or messenger bag for extreme portability.

Keyboard players who want to work with software on their computer will find that the LPK25 gives their laptop the keys they need to express themselves anywhere.

The LPK25 is a scaled-down relative to the MPK series of keyboard performance controllers. The diminutive keyboard is made up of 25 miniature, velocity-sensitive keyboard keys with synth action.

The LPK25 contains an arpeggiator, which steps through chords automatically, assisting musicians with creating quick melodic ideas. Sustain, octave up and down and tap tempo controls round out the LPK25’s easy-to-learn layout.

The LPDK25 works plug and play with Mac and PC and requires no software driver installation or wall power for operation. It has four memory banks for programming and recalling settings appropriate to different software programs you use.

Create melodic and harmonic riffs in seconds, anywhere, with the LPK25.

Comments about Akai LPK25 Laptop USB MIDI Controller:

It's a very nice little keyboard. Hardware end is very good, it feels well made and the velocity sensitive keys work surprisingly good. Software end is not so great. Everything works but for some reason I cannot get the arpeggiator to work with either Reason 5 or Ableton Live 8. I tried upgrading drivers and all that and still nothing. I contacted Akai's support team and after 2 weeks of waiting they finally responded that the problem hasn't been resolved yet. I gave up and started using VST arpeggiators.

Comments about Akai LPK25 Laptop USB MIDI Controller:

First review!I walked in to Sam Ash one day with the Korg NanoKey on my mind. I needed a keyboard to do some simple composing and recording (I'm not a keyboard player, but my laptop keys were not enough) and I needed something small, and cheap.[...]It looks like a keyboard, and not like laptop keys, which is what the NanoKeys resembled. The keys are a little narrower than the NanoKeys, but they are much more like actually keyboard keyboard keys in that the black keys are actually higher than the white keys. All in all, it just works. Easily. Perfectly. I just plugged it in and without even saying anything, Logic Pro recognized it and started working with it right away. The only complaints I have are that it's a little thicker than the NanoKeys, making a little harder to put in a bag with my laptop, but the good news is that the keys push down a lot more and resemble a piano or keyboard a little more. (They aren't actually weighted like a piano, obviously)The second complaint is that the keys are a little too sensitive sometimes. It's hard to get the softer sounds to come through without pressing the keys very lightly. This just takes getting used to though. Before that I was using my laptop keyboard, which is not touch sensitive at all.IN CONCLUSION, if you are someone using GarageBand or Logic on a Mac, or FL Studio on a PC and want something with more range and sensitivity than a computer keyboard but don't have the room or money for a full MIDI keyboard, this is the keyboard for you. This is better than the Korg NanoKey unless you need to ship it in an envelope or something, or love using laptop keys and just need touch sensitivity.Sorry for the long review...
