The Samson CM40 Chromatic Tuner/ Metronome’s versatile design helps to make it the ultimate tuning accessory every musician will want in their gig bag.

Samson brings precision tuning and metronome capabilities together in the CM40 Chromatic Tuner/Metronome. Its compact, easy-to-use design makes tuning guitars, basses, stringed, woodwind or brass instruments easier than ever.

As a chromatic tuner, the CM40 offers a variety of impressive features, including two modes of tuning: Tone (manual) and Tuner (automatic). When using Tuner mode, the tuner automatically recognizes the note you’re playing, while Tone mode allows you to select a reference pitch. Use its on-board microphone to adjust acoustic instruments and its 1/4-inch input connector for electronic instruments. No matter what mode you use, the CM40 allows a wide range of calibration from A 430 to 450Hz, while its smooth, real-time display provides precise and accurate tuning. It also features a transposition setting that allows you to easily tune down your instrument.

The CM40 also functions as a metronome. Practice along with tempos ranging from 30 to 250 bpm using the tuner’s built-in speaker with volume control and 1/8-inch headphone jack. In Beat mode, you can choose from ten different time signatures. And by using the Rhythm function, each time signature contains nine rhythm variations for practicing a wide range of styles. You will master your timing, no matter the time signature or style of music you’re playing.

Designed with a large, full color LCD display, as well as LED pitch/beat indicators, the CM40 can be easily used in any environment, including a dark stage. It also features an integrated kickstand for better viewing. Lastly, a convenient auto power-off function conserves the two included AAA batteries that power the CM40 if it is not in use for five minutes.

Comments about Samson CM40-Chromatic Tuner / Metronome:

I've been using this Samson CM40 for close to a year now. I have several tuners ranging from a big Peterson strobe from the '60s down to a little Uke clip-on. I accompany a small Classical ensemble of women's voices on Classical Guitar for performance and our weekly rehearsal. Some of the women double on winds or strings that they play as well.

In the CM40 I have a metronome with big lights that everybody can see while rehearsing but can also be run silently when needed in performance. The Tuner function also has a big screen divided into 2-cent lines. Our flute is a French 1930s handmade that requires the guitar being turned to it. The accuracy of the increments is appreciated. The needle is quick settling down and easily seen. Despite the high usage the tuner receives, the switches still feel crisp with no problems. I understand there's a tone generator, but I haven't had need of it.
I also recommend this tuner to my students in a sea of tuners to pick from in a store. I have to add that Sam Ash opening a store here in Dallas improved things a great deal for the local musicians -- Thank You Sam Ash!

Comments about Samson CM40-Chromatic Tuner / Metronome:

This unit operated very intermitantly. Some times it picked up the tone, but most of the time it did'nt. May have been the low notes on my bass that it couldn't detect. However, I trued to tune a ukulele just using the mic and it didn't pick that up either. I took it back and exchanged it for another model.
