The Model SM7B dynamic microphone has a smooth, flat, wide-range frequency response appropriate for music and speech in all professional audio applications. It features excellent shielding against electromagnetic hum generated by computer monitors, neon lights, and other electrical devices.

The SM7B has been updated from earlier models with an improved bracket design that offers greater stability. In addition to it's standard windscreen, it also includes the A7WS windscreen for close-talk applications.

Features:

•  Flat, wide-range frequency response for exceptionally clean and natural reproduction of both music and speech
•  Bass rolloff and mid-range emphasis (presence boost) controls with graphic display of response setting
•  Improved rejection of electromagnetic hum, optimized for shielding against broadband interference emitted by computer monitors
•  Internal "air suspension" shock isolation virtually eliminates mechanical noise transmission
•  Highly effective pop filter eliminates need for any add-on protection against explosive breath sounds, even for close-up vocals or narration
•  Now shipping with the A7WS detachable windscreen, designed to reduce plosive sounds and gives a warmer tone for close-talk vocals
•  Yoke mounting with captive stand nut for easy mounting and dismounting provides precise control of microphone position
•  Classic cardioid polar pattern, uniform with frequency and symmetrical about axis, to provide maximum rejection and minimum coloration of off-axis sound
•  Rugged construction and excellent cartridge protection for outstanding reliability

Comments about Shure Sm7b Cardioid Dynamic Microphone:

This is the dynamic mic of choice for clear and neutral presentation on vocals and mic. Though the price point seems low, this is a real gem for sound engineers that want to have more control on how they will present the recording material. Being that it is a dynamic mic, you won't need phantom power and it's generally more durable than condenser counterparts. For having neutral recordings, it's a great day when we don't have to plan our purchases around bank robberies.

Comments about Shure Sm7b Cardioid Dynamic Microphone:

A buddy of mine lent me this microphone to record vocals on and it is easily the best sounding mic I've used for the price. The filter cuts out any unnecessary pops and it's easy to install and get started with immediately. I've also seen this mic used in a lot of podcasts, the sound quality is dynamic and it picks up every nuance of a vocal performance. I can't recommend this mic enough, I'm dreading having to give it back to my friend after my session is over.

One of the best vocal mics out there

Comments about Shure Sm7b Cardioid Dynamic Microphone:

Even though the price point of an SM7B would make some expect mediocre results, this microphone is one of the most widely used mics out there in the market. Artists like Metallica, Incubus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Mars Votla all use this mic to record. This was even the mic Michael Jackson used to record Thriller. Clear, crisp sounds, this is a music have for any studio.

I've used this microphone for so many things from a vocal microphone all the way to a kick drum microphone. I was surprised at the versatility of this mic, but it cuts through everything. Sounds clear as a vocal mic, and even for a kick drum! Get this and use it now!

If I had a dollar for everytime I've entered a recording studio and saw this mic I'd be a very rich man. It's crisp, clean, and professional! This mic is smooth, warm, full and amazing on vocals! It doesn't get better than this for any mic under 1 grand. You will not be disappointed. Considering this mic is truly flat, make sure you have a great preamp, and this will be the only mic you'll ever need!

Comments about Shure Sm7b Cardioid Dynamic Microphone:

I am the vocalist in a metal band in which the vocals are screamed rather than sung. I ordered this mic months ago because I heard that is is great for this application and I now back this opinion. This microphones ability to handle some of the most abusive and loud vocal tones and deliver them with clarity and power is unreal. The mic DOES NEED a lot of push though. I am using a Tascam USB interface and and I have to almost run it full blast to get the full effect out of this mic but when you can get it running smoothly it will impress you. Aside from metal screams, it also performs great at micing bass drums and very loud guitar amps. In fact, when our band records this mic plays some role in recording EVERYTHING its just that versitile and powerful. Worth the $$$$

Comments about Shure Sm7b Cardioid Dynamic Microphone:

This is truly the diamond in the rough I've been searching for for decades. [$] may not seem like 'rough' but this quality/price is unprecedented in my experience. It's upper freq detail made my 414 sound dull, yet it's a relatively darkish, round, full tone. I checked 'limited functions' because you may not always have the tremendous mic gain available to drive this power starved dynamic capsule. A Zoom H4n, for instance, could not provide sufficient gain. I've read blogs claiming the manuals state it requires 'slightly' more gain than an SM58. Not on this planet. In the studio though, you should be fine. I've used the Neumann TLM, (about $1000). I don't remember it being as well behaved as the SM7b.
