For most guitars, you just don’t see the words “affordable” and “US-made” in the same sentence very often. But Fender has changed all that, with the American Special Series Stratocaster HSS. They call the American Special Series “Guitars for the times,” and they mean it. Because the American Special Series Stratocaster HSS really does have everything you’re looking for—including a price tag that’s within your reach. It’s a real Strat, all the way. With all that classic Strat vibe, bumped into the 21st century with all kinds of smart modern touches.
Let’s take a little tour. Obviously, the first thing you’re going to notice is that sleek Alder body with its gloss urethane finish. The maple neck’s got 22 frets, a 9.5” radius and a modern C profile, topped with a ‘70s–style headstock. (You know, the big one!) So you know it’s going to be a pleasure to hold, and a joy to play.
But how’s it sound? Well, those Texas Special pickups in the Neck and Middle positions are going to give you all the Strat spank you’re dreaming of. And then the American Special Series Stratocaster HSS throws you a little curve, with an Atomic humbucker in the bridge spot. Which means you can add some explosive double-coil punch to your sonic arsenal. (Didn’t we say it’s got everything you’re looking for?) But Fender didn’t stop there. They also give you their famous Greasebucket™ Tone Circuit, which solves an age-old problem, because it lets you roll off highs without adding bass. In other words, bye-bye, muddy sound!
There’s a handy Vintage-Style Synchronized Tremolo, too. The American Special Series Stratocaster HSS comes in beautiful Black or Three-Tone Sunburst. And as if that weren’t enough, Fender also throws in a deluxe gig bag. So what are you waiting for?
