The face of pop music was changing drastically, and Kurt Cobain was leading the charge during the musical revolution of the early ’90s. Nirvana achieved platinum sales and almost single-headedly created a whole new movement in rock music. Although Cobain went through many guitars due in part to Nirvana’s ritualistic destruction of their instruments at the end of their act, he was most often seen with a heavily modified, battered 1965 Jaguar during Nirvana’s initial breakout success of their classic Nevermind album in 1991. Through videos, concert films and photos of this period, this Jaguar became the guitar that Cobain was heavily associated with. Fender has recreated this iconic guitar and is now available to you at an affordable price.
Fender craftsmen have reproduced Cobain’s battle-hardened Jaguar down to the last detail, including its worn 3-Tone Sunburst finish, dual humbucking pickups and unique electronics and controls (which were already in place when Kurt acquired the guitar in summer 1991).
Unique features include an alder body with Road Worn aged finish and hardware treatment, bound fretboard with pearloid dot markers, Stratocaster headstock shape with 1950s-style “spaghetti” logo, DiMarzio humbucking DP103 PAF 36th Anniversary neck pickup and DP100 Super Distortion bridge pickup, triple knurled “chrome-dome” knob configuration (volume-volume-tone), three-position toggle switch, black chrome Adjusto-Matic™ bridge and Gotoh sealed tuners.
