Adding even more value to this already attractive offer, the Taylor 414ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar has been reintroduced with a full-gloss finish, Italian acrylic dot fretboard inlays and premium Taylor Expression System 2 electronics.

The Taylor 400 series allows players to enjoy solid African ovangkol's responsive, rosewood-like tone, which pairs beautifully with Sitka spruce and will satisfy a wide range of players. Each instrument comes standard with a three-ring rosette, a tortoise pickguard and white binding that applies a crisp complement against the mottled brown hues of ovangkol. New for 2015, all of the Taylor 400 series instruments now feature a beautiful full-gloss body finish, Italian acrylic dot fingerboard inlays, and Taylor's premium Expression System 2 electronics for peerless plugged-in performance.

A spruce top, ovangkol back & sides, and Taylor's all-purpose Grand Auditorium body are the key ingredients that make this 414ce suitable for players of all genres and styles. It delivers exceptional tonal balance with a beautiful top-end chime and a full-bodied midrange and low-end. Amazing projection and volume are provided by forward shifted  bracing with Taylor's tone-enhancing relief rout. A smooth Venetian cutaway provides unrestricted access to the upper frets while offering a modern aesthetic touch. The tropical mahogany neck is shaped into a superbly comfortable profile and carries an ebony fretboard with 20 frets. Whether you're recording in the studio, playing a small coffee shop gig, or playing on stage in a mix with other instruments, the onboard Taylor Expression System 2 electronics will faithfully convey the 414ce's natural acoustic voice through any acoustic amp or PA system. A set of Taylor nickel tuners, a Tusq nut & Micarta saddle, and an ebony bridge round out this attractive, performance-ready package. Includes hardshell case.

Best Uses

I brought a Martin gpcpa4r less than a year ago and am in the process of selling it. I originally wanted another Taylor when I purchased the Martin as I have a 510 for over 20 years and love it, but brought the Martin because it was less money. I was immediately sad that I did. Not that the Martin isn't a good guitar but the workmanship on the 414 (gloss finish, ebony fingerboard, bone nut....) is just better to me and more pleasing to my eye. Martin plays well, but when placed side by side, the Taylor is richer looking. I also like the ES2 electronics better, they sound better to my ear plugged in. Both guitars had a great sound. Which one sounds better depends on your ear as both companies have different guitar sounds with Martin being more deep and Taylor being brighter to my ear. My only complaint would be that I would have liked an on board tuner like the Martin has. You can never go wrong with a Taylor. My 510 sounds better now that it did when I brought it and I'm sure this one will too. The case is also super well made. It is the same case as my 510 and you can almost drive a car over it. The Martin case was definately cheaper made
