A nice pairing of the compact Grand Concert body with 400 series tonewoods and appointments: the Taylor 412ce.

The Taylor 400 series allows players to enjoy solid African ovangkol's responsive, rosewood-like tone, which pairs well with Sitka spruce and can accommodate a range of playing styles. White binding and a three-ring rosette applies a crisp counterpoint against the gloss top and mottled brown hues of ovangkol.

Featuring a comfortable Grand Concert body crafted from Sitka spruce and ovangkol, the 412ce will sound great and fit nicely in a band setting while the smaller body will help curb overtones. For optimal top vibration and enhanced tonal response, the top is supported by forward shifted bracing with Taylor's patented relief rout. For exceptional playability, the 412ce features fingerstyle-friendly short-scale (24-7/8") neck carved from tropical mahogany while the body sports a smooth venetian cutaway for superb upper fret access. The ebony fingerboard is topped off with Progressive dot inlays and a Tusq nut. The headstock boasts a set of Taylor nickel tuners and an Indian rosewood overlay that provides a nice aesthetic touch. A hardshell case is included with your purchase of the Taylor 412ce.

The Taylor Expression System is "Natural Sound Made Simple"

You will love the clear, full acoustic tone of the Taylor 412ce. Why should it be any different when you plug in? That’s why Taylor spent several years developing their own onboard acoustic pickup and preamp. Taylor’s ground-breaking Expression System (ES) was designed to naturally amplify the warm acoustic sound of your guitar. The ES is an all-magnetic acoustic guitar pickup system that works like a microphone to produce a pure signal and a warm, natural acoustic sound. When you plug in, you'll hear the sound of your guitar, not the sound of the pickup. No complicated controls. No tone simulators. Just a clean amplified acoustic guitar sound supported by three simple controls — volume, bass and treble. Years of research brought Taylor to a simple realization: Nothing sounds as true and musical as a microphone. With that as a starting point, Taylor’s David Hosler led the team responsible for the Expression System's breakthrough technology. Utilizing a unique Dynamic Body Sensor mounted to the soundboard, a Dynamic String Sensor embedded beneath the fretboard, and a discrete preamp, the advanced ES technology is unlike any other guitar pickup system. The ES was designed in-house, alongside Taylor’s acoustic guitars, which allowed them to build the ES seamlessly into the design of the guitar, for an integrated pickup system unlike any other. From the design and location of the body and string sensors to the voicing of the preamp, the ES is fully optimized for the Taylor sound. The elegant design, including the non-intrusive control knobs, also preserves the aesthetic of a Taylor guitar.
