Please make a selection from the drop down menu and browse through the Gibson Derek Trucks Signature SG Electric Guitars that have been individually photographed and listed by their unique serial number/weight.

Derek Trucks has come a long way since he bought his first guitar for $5 at a garage sale at age 9, transforming from child prodigy into a blues guitar virtuoso – from his first paid gig at age 11, to his performances with legendary guitarists including Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan and Joe Walsh to touring with the Allman Brothers. 3 years prior to becoming a permanent member of the Allman Brothers band in 1999, Trucks made a name for himself with the formation of his own band, The Derek Trucks Band. Trucks has proved himself to be a brilliant guitarist and whether he's playing solo, with his own band or accompanying other musical icons, his distinctive tone and style are instantly recognizable.

Gibson is proud to introduce the Derek Trucks SG, faithfully recreating the early '60s SG/Les Pauls and combining that with the notable aspects of Trucks' own modified SG Reissue from wood choice, to electronics all the way down to the hardware and the vintage red stain finish.

The Derek Trucks SG is crafted from solid mahogany into the double-horned body of the early '60s SG Standards, with a classic tonewood that remains true to the original while the dual cutaways provide greater accessibility to the upper frets. The glued-in neck of the Derek Trucks SG is carved from mahogany into Derek Truck's preferred SlimTaper profile and carries a 22-fret cream-bound dark rosewood fingerboard with classic trapezoid inlays.

The Derek Trucks SG comes loaded with a set of vintage-style Gibson '57 Classic pickups in both the bridge and the neck positions to faithfully emulate that vintage tone of the original Patent Applied For (PAF) humbuckers. These '57 Classics are designed in the image of the coveted PAF pickups, which employs genuine Alnico magnets while slight updates will accommodate the needs of today's high-volume rockers. From searing leads and solos to a full, warm rhythm, these pickups will surely deliver. The '57 Classics are routed through a classic complement of independent volume and tone controls and a 3-way pickup selector switch.

As far as hardware goes, the Derek Trucks SG sports all chrome hardware including a set of vintage Keystone tuners, Derek's favored decorative faux-Lyre tailpiece cover, just like the one featured on his own SG, and a traditional Gibson ABR bridge and stopbar tailpiece for incredible sustain and resonance. Just as his own SG, the Derek Trucks SG wears no pickguard, but features black pickup rings, black top-hat knobs with silver inserts, a black switch ring, and a black and white truss-rod cover with Derek's signature to complete the package. The Derek Trucks SG also comes with the full protection of a Gibson hardshell case.
