Comments about Truetone 1-Spot Pro Cs12 Multi-Voltage Pedalboard Power Supply:

I'm a weekend warrior musician, but I take my sound seriously. I was using a Gator board for years with 6 FX on it and powering it with a 1 Spot power supply into the internal power brick of the board. While it functioned, I always seemed to have some buzz and hum even with all effects in bypass. I have added some more FX pedals (get over it - I love pedals!) and ran out of real estate on the old board. I picked up the Pedaltrain Classic (also a great purchase) and installed the new 1-Spot Pro CS12 to power it. I've got 9 pedals using 9v DC and 1 pedal (a looper) that uses 9v AC. All are now getting isolated power. First observation is NO NOISE. With all pedals in bypass, I had to double check it was on it was so quiet! Setup once it was installed (get to that in a sec) was easy as the supplied power cables are color coded. I was able to plug all my lower mA required pedals using one color, and then each group requiring higher mA their own color. Flip the board over and plugging into the respective outlets became a breeze. The isolated power improves each effects contribution to the signal chain which did require some tweaks to my "usual" settings. But if anything, it made the controls of each pedal more responsive individually so a good thing. I kinda wish the 2 18v outlets could be selective to lower voltages but the overall flexibility of power options is great. Just be aware - of 12 outlets, 4 are 9vDC, 5 are 9v/12vDC selectable, 1 is 9v but is AC and 2 are 18v nonselectable. So if you have standard pedals, you really get 9 9v DC outlets available.

The only issue I had was installing the rack assembly to the Pedaltrain board. The instructions will say you don't need to drill, the screws are self tapping. I beg to differ. The PT board uses some seriously strong metal so it just laughed at the screw. Simple though, I drilled a tiny starter hole and in they went. I'm not sure how it could be improved, but the installation process in general is kinda wonky. The rack ears don't seem to fit the angle needed. Once the screws are tightened it flexes to where it needs to be, but its still not as straightforward as the instructions make it sound. That's not enough to ding the rating as this is truly a great piece of equipment.
